II Kings 24
The Beginning of the Captivity of Judah
Jehoiachin was eighteen years old when he began to reign, and he reigned three months in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Nehushta, the daughter of Elnathan of Jerusalem.
And he did evil in the sight of the Lord, according to all that his father had done.
At that time the servants of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up to Jerusalem, and the city was besieged.
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon also came against the city while his servants were besieging it.
Then Jehoiachin king of Judah went out to the king of Babylon, he and his mother, his servants, his princes, and his eunuchs; and the king of Babylon took him captive in the eighth year of his reign.
And he took from there all the treasures of the house of the Lord and the treasures of the king's house, and he took them captive. and he broke in pieces all the vessels of gold that Solomon king of Israel had made in the temple of the Lord, as the Lord had said.
And he carried away all Jerusalem, and all the princes, and all the mighty men of valor, ten thousand captives, and all the carpenters and smiths; none were left but the poor people of the land.
So Jehoiachin carried away to Babylon, and the king's mother, and the king's wives, and his eunuchs, and the mighty men of the land, he carried away captive from Jerusalem to Babylon.
And all the mighty men of valor, even seven thousand, and carpenters and smiths, even a thousand, and all the men skilled in war, the king of Babylon carried away captive to Babylon.
And the king of Babylon made Mattaniah his uncle king in his place, and changed his name to Zedekiah.
