51 So David ran and stood over the Philistine and took his sword and took it out of its sheath; and killed him, and cut off his head with it: when the Philistines saw that their champion was dead, they fled.

52 Then the men of Israel and Judah arose, and rejoiced, and followed the Philistines, until they reached the valley, and until the gates of Ekron: and the wounded of the Philistines fell on the way from Saharaim to Gath and to Ekron.

53 Then the children of Israel returned from persecuting the Philistines, and stripped their camps.

54 And David took the Philistine's head and brought it to Jerusalem: but he put his weapons in his tent.

55 But when Saul saw David go out to meet the Philistine, he said to Abner, the head of the army, Whose son is this young man, Abner? And Abner said, Thy soul lives, O king, that I do not know.

56 Then the king said, Ask, then, whose son is this young man.

57 When David returned from wounding the Philistine, Abner took him with him and brought him before Saul, with the Philistine's head in his hand.

58 And Saul said to him, Whose son are you, young man? And David said, Son of thy servant Jesse, a Bethlehemite.

33 But Saul said to David, You cannot go against this Philistine to fight with him: for you are still a young man, and he has been a man of war since his youth.

34 Then David said to Saul, Your servant was feeding his father's sheep; and a lion and a bear came, and took a sheep from the flock;

35 And I went after him, and struck him, and rescued him from his mouth: and when he arose against me, I took his beard, and struck him, and killed him.

36 So your servant struck the lion like the bear: so will this uncircumcised Philistine be as one of them; because he defied the armies of the living God.

37 And David said, The Lord saved me from the hand of the lion and the hand of the bear; he will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine. Then Saul said to David, Go away, and the Lord is with you.

38 And Saul put David on his robes, and put a bronze helmet on his head: and put on a breastplate.

39 And David girded the sword on his garments, and began to walk; but he had never experienced it: so David said to Saul, I cannot walk with this, for I have never experienced it. And David took all that away from him.

40 And he took his staff in his hand, and chose for himself five pebbles from the brook, and put them in the shepherd's saddlebag, which he had, namely, in the beating, and took hold of his sling: and he went on reaching the Philistine.

41 The Philistine also came and came to David; and the one who carried the shield went ahead of him.

42 And when he looked at the Philistine and saw David, he despised him, for he was a young man, red-haired, and kind-looking.

43 And he said, therefore, the Philistine to David, Am I a dog for you to come to me with sticks? And the Philistine cursed David for his gods.

44 And the Philistine said to David, Come to me, and I will give your flesh to the birds of the sky and the beasts of the field.

45 But David said to the Philistine, You come to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield; but I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.

46 This very day the Lord will deliver you into my hand, and I will strike you, and take your head off, and I will give the bodies of the Philistines' camp today to the birds of the sky and the beasts of the earth: and all the earth will know that there is God in Israel:

47 And all this congregation will know that the Lord saves, not with sword or spear; for war is from the Lord, and he will deliver you into our hand.

36 Assim feriu o teu servo  o leão como o urso: assim será este incircunciso filisteu como um deles; porquanto afrontou os exércitos do Deus vivo.

37 Disse mais Davi: O Senhor me livrou da mão do leão, e da do urso; ele me livrará da mão deste filisteu. Então disse Saul a Davi: Vai-te embora, e o Senhor é contigo.

38 E Saul vestiu Davi de seus vestidos, e pôs-lhe sobre a cabeça um capacete de bronze: e o vestiu de uma couraça.

39 E Davi cingiu a espada sobre os seus vestidos, e começou a andar; porém nunca havia experimentado: então disse Davi a Saul: Não posso andar com isto, pois nunca experimentei. E Davi tirou tudo aquilo de sobre si.

40 E tomou o seu cajado na mão, e escolheu para si cinco seixos do ribeiro, e pô-los no alforje de pastor, que trazia, a saber, no surrão, e lançou mão da sua funda: e foi-se chegando ao filisteu.

41 O filisteu também veio e se vinha chegando a Davi; e o que lhe levava o escudo ia adiante dele.

42 E, olhando o filisteu, e vendo a Davi, o desprezou, porquanto era mancebo, ruivo , e de gentil aspecto.

44 Disse mais o filisteu a Davi: Vem a mim, e darei a tua carne às aves do céu e às bestas do campo.

46 Hoje mesmo o Senhor te entregará na minha mão, e ferir-te-ei, e te tirarei a cabeça, e os corpos do arraial dos filisteus darei hoje mesmo às aves do céu e as bestas da terra: e toda a terra saberá que há Deus em Israel:

47 E saberá toda esta congregação que o Senhor salva, não com espada, nem com lança; porque do Senhor á a guerra, e ele vos entregará na nossa mão.

25 And the men of Israel said, Have you seen that man who went up? for he went up to confront Israel; so it shall be that the man who strikes him will be enriched by great wealth, and will give his daughter to him, and will make his father's house open in Israel.

26 Then David spoke to the men who were with him, saying, What will they do to the man who strikes this Philistine and removes the affront from Israel? Who then is this uncircumcised Philistine to confront the armies of the living God?

27 And the people spoke to him again in accordance with those words, saying, Thus shall they do to the man who strikes him.

28 And when Elijah heard his elder brother speak to those men, Eliab's anger against David arose, and he said, Why have you come down here? and to whom did you leave those few sheep in the desert? I know your conceit, and the wickedness of your heart, which went down to see the battle.

29 Then David said, What have I done now? is there no reason for that?

30 And he turned from him to another, and spoke according to that word: and the people answered again according to the first words.

31 And when they heard the words that David had spoken, they announced them to Saul, and sent for him.

24 Porém todos os homens em Israel, vendo aquele homem, fugiam de diante dele, e temiam grandemente;

25 E diziam os homens de Israel: Vistes aquele homem que subiu? pois subiu para afrontar Israel; há de ser pois que ao homem que o ferir o rei enriquecerá de grandes riquezas, e lhe dará a sua filha, e fará franca a casa de seu pai em Israel.

26 Então falou Davi aos homens que estavam com ele, dizendo: Que farão áquele homem que ferir  a este filisteu, e tirar a afronta de sobre Israel? quem é pois este incircunciso filisteu, para afrontar os exércitos do Deus vivo?

27 E o povo lhe tornou a falar conforme àquelas palavras, dizendo: Assim farão ao homem que o ferir.

28 E, ouvindo Eliabe, seu irmão mais velho falar àqueles homens acendeu-se a ira de Eliabe contra Davi, e disse: Por que descestes aqui? e a quem deixaste aquelas poucas ovelhas no deserto? bem conheço a tua presunção, e a maldade do teu coração, que desceste para ver a peleja.

29 Então disse Davi: Que fiz eu agora? porventura não há razão para isso?

30  E desviou-se dele para outro, e falou conforme àquela palavra: e o povo tornou a responder conforme às primeiras palavras.

31 E, ouvidas as palavras que Davi havia falado, as anunciaram a Saul, e mandou em busca dele.

15 David came and went from Saul, however, to feed his father's sheep in Bethlehem.

12 I said, Now the Philistines will come down on me to Gilgal, and yet in the face of the Lord I did not pray: and I was violent, and offered a burnt offering.

13 Then Samuel said to Saul, You have done foolishly, and you have not kept the commandment that the Lord your God has commanded you; for now the Lord would have confirmed your kingdom over Israel forever.

14 But now your kingdom will not endure: the Lord has sought a man for himself after his own heart, and the Lord has commanded him to be a leader over his people, because you have not kept what the Lord has commanded you.

15 Then Samuel got up and went up from Gilgal to Gibeah of Benjamin. And Saul told the people that he found six hundred men with him.

16 And Saul and Jonathan, his son, and the people who were with them, stayed in Gibeah of Benjamin: but the Philistines camped at Micmash.

17 And the destroyers left the Philistine camp in three companies: one of the companies returned by the way from Ophrah to the land of Saul:

18 Another company came back along the path of Betorom: and the other company came back along the path of the term that looks at the Zeboim valley tells of the desert.

19 And not a smith was found in all the land of Israel: for the Philistines had said, Lest the Hebrews make a sword or a spear.

13 Então disse Samuel a Saul: Obraste nesciamente, e não guardaste o mandamento que o Senhor teu Deus te ordenou; porque agora o Senhor teria confirmado o teu reino sobre Israel para sempre.

14 Porém agora não subsistirá o teu reino: já tem buscado o Senhor para si um homem segundo o seu coração, e já lhe tem ordenado o Senhor, que seja chefe sobre o seu povo, porquanto não guardaste o que o Senhor te ordenou.

15 Então se levantou Samuel, e subiu de Gilgal a Gibeá de Benjamim. E Saul contou ao povo que achou com ele, uns seiscentos varões.

16 E Saul e Jônatas, seu filho, e o povo que se achou com eles, ficaram em Gibeá de Benjamim: porém os filisteus se acamparam  em Micmás.

17 E os destruidores saíram do campo dos filisteus em três companhias: uma das companhias voltou pelo caminho de Ofra à terra de Saul:

18 Outra companhia voltou pelo caminho de Betorom: e a outra companhia voltou pelo caminho do termo que olha para o vale Zeboim conta o deserto.

2 So Saul chose three thousand Israel for himself; and two thousand were with Saul in Micmas, and in the mountain of Bethel, and a thousand were with Jonathan in Gibeah of Benjamin: and he sent the rest of the people away, each one to his house.

3 And Jonathan struck down the Philistines' garrison at Gibeah, which the Philistines heard: so Saul blew the trumpet throughout the land, saying, Hear the Hebrews.

4 Then all Israel heard it said, Saul smote the garrison of the Philistines, and Israel also became an abomination to the Philistines. So the people were called after Saul in Gilgal.

5 And the Philistines came together to fight against Israel: Thirty thousand chariots, and six thousand horsemen, and the people in multitude like the sand that is at the edge of the sea; and they went up and camped at Micmash, east of Beth-Aven.

6 And when the men of Israel saw that they were in anguish (because the people were cramped), the people hid themselves by the caves, and by the spines, and by the cliffs, and by the fortifications and the pits.

7 And the Hebrews passed over Jordan to the land of Gad and Gilead: and while Saul was still in Gilgal, all the people came after him trembling.
