इस्राएल की पुनर्स्थापना और उद्धार

1 हे धर्म के माननेवालों, हे प्रभु के खोजियों, मेरी सुनो; उस चट्टान की ओर देखो जहाँ से तुम खोदे गए थे, और उस खदान की ओर देखो जहाँ से तुम गढ़े गए थे।

2 अपने पिता अब्राहम और अपनी जन्मी सारा की ओर देखो; क्योंकि जब वह अकेला था, तब मैंने उसे बुलाया, और आशीर्वाद दिया और उसे बढ़ाया।

3 क्योंकि यहोवा सिय्योन को शान्ति देगा; वह उसके सब उजड़े हुए स्थानों को शान्ति देगा, और उसके जंगल को अदन के समान और उसके निर्जन प्रदेश को यहोवा की बारी के समान बनाएगा; उसमें आनन्द और प्रसन्नता, धन्यवाद और भजन की ध्वनि सुनाई देगी।

4 हे मेरे लोगों, मेरी ओर कान लगाओ, और हे मेरे लोगों, मेरी ओर कान लगाओ; क्योंकि मुझ ही से व्यवस्था निकलेगी, और मेरा न्याय देश देश के लोगों के लिये ज्योति ठहरेगा।

5 मेरा धर्म निकट है, मेरा उद्धार आनेवाला है, और मेरे भुजबल देश देश के लोगों का न्याय करेंगे; द्वीप मेरी बाट जोहेंगे, और मेरे भुजबल पर आशा रखेंगे।

6 अपनी आँखें आकाश की ओर उठाओ, और पृथ्वी को देखो; क्योंकि आकाश धुएँ के समान लोप हो जाएगा, और पृथ्वी वस्त्र के समान पुरानी हो जाएगी, और उसके रहनेवाले भी वैसे ही मर जाएँगे; परन्तु मेरा उद्धार सदा बना रहेगा, और मेरा धर्म न टूटेगा।

7 हे धर्म के जाननेवालो, हे लोगो, जिनके मन में मेरी व्यवस्था है, मेरी सुनो; मनुष्यों की निन्दा से मत डरो, और न उनके अपमान से विस्मित हो।

8 क्योंकि कीड़ा उन्हें वस्त्र के समान खा जाएगा, और कीड़ा उन्हें ऊन के समान निगल जाएगा; परन्तु मेरा धर्म सदा बना रहेगा, और मेरा उद्धार पीढ़ी से पीढ़ी तक बना रहेगा।

9 हे यहोवा के भुजबल, जाग, जाग, बल धारण कर; जैसे प्राचीनकाल में और प्राचीनकाल की पीढ़ियों में जागते थे; क्या तू वही नहीं है जिसने राहाब को टुकड़े-टुकड़े किया और अजगर को घायल किया था?

10 क्या तू वही नहीं है जिसने समुद्र को, अर्थात् बड़े गहिरे जल को सुखा दिया था? समुद्र की गहराई में किसने मार्ग बनाया कि छुड़ाए हुए लोग उसमें से होकर जा सकें?

11 इसलिए यहोवा के छुड़ाए हुए लोग लौटकर जयजयकार करते हुए सिय्योन में आएंगे; उनके सिरों पर सदा आनन्द छाया रहेगा। हर्ष और आनन्द उन पर छा जाएगा, और शोक और विलाप दूर हो जाएँगे।

12 मैं, मैं ही वह हूँ जो तुम्हें शान्ति देता हूँ। तुम कौन हो कि नश्वर मनुष्य से, घास के समान मनुष्यों से डरते हो?

13 क्या तुम अपने रचयिता यहोवा को भूल गए हो, जिसने आकाश को तानकर पृथ्वी की नींव डाली? क्या तुम निरन्तर अत्याचारी के क्रोध से डरते रहते हो? जिसने तुम्हें सताया, उसका क्रोध कहाँ है?

14 बन्धुआई से छुड़ाया हुआ शीघ्र ही मुक्त हो जाएगा, और वह गुफा में न मरेगा, और न ही उसे रोटी की कमी होगी।

15 क्योंकि मैं तुम्हारा परमेश्वर यहोवा हूँ, जो समुद्र को दो भागों में बाँटता है, जिससे उसकी लहरें गरजती हैं। सेनाओं का यहोवा उसका नाम है।

16 मैंने अपने वचन तेरे मुँह में डाले हैं और तुझे अपने हाथ की छाया में छिपा रखा है, ताकि आकाश को तानूँ और पृथ्वी की नींव डालूँ, और सिय्योन से कहूँ, “तुम मेरी प्रजा हो।”

17 हे यरूशलेम, जाग! उठ! तूने यहोवा के हाथ से उसके क्रोध का प्याला पी लिया है; तूने ठोकर के प्याले का निस्सार पी लिया है।

18 जितने बच्चों को उसने जन्म दिया, उनमें से कोई भी उसे धीरे से मार्गदर्शन नहीं देता; जितने बच्चों को उसने पाला, उनमें से कोई भी उसका हाथ थामने वाला नहीं।

19 ये दो विपत्तियाँ तुझ पर आ पड़ी हैं; कौन तुझ पर दया करेगा? उजाड़, विनाश, अकाल और तलवार! मैं तुझे कैसे शान्ति दूँ?

20 तेरे बच्चे बेहोश हो गए हैं; वे जाल में फँसे मृग की तरह हर सड़क की गलियों में पड़े हैं; वे यहोवा के क्रोध और तेरे परमेश्वर की फटकार से भरे हुए हैं।

21 इसलिए हे दुःखी, तू जो मतवाला तो है, परन्तु दाखमधु से नहीं, यह सुन।

22 तेरा प्रभु, यहोवा, तेरा परमेश्वर जो अपनी प्रजा का मुक़द्दमा लड़ेगा, वह यों कहता है: देख, मैं तेरे हाथ से ठोकर का कटोरा, अर्थात् अपनी जलजलाहट के कटोरे का निस्सार ले लेता हूँ; तू उसमें से फिर कभी न पीना।

23 परन्तु मैं उसे उन लोगों के हाथ में दे दूँगा जिन्होंने तुझे दुःख दिया, और जो तुझ से कहते हैं, “झुक जा, कि हम तुझे छोड़कर चले जाएँ”; और तूने अपनी पीठ भूमि के समान और राहगीरों के लिये मार्ग के समान बना ली है।

The Restoration and Salvation of Israel

1 Listen to me, you who pursue righteousness, you who seek the Lord: look to the rock where you were cut, and to the quarry from which you were hewn.

2 Look to Abraham your father, and to Sarah who bore you; for when he was but one I called him, and I blessed him and multiplied him.

3 For the Lord will comfort Zion; he will comfort all her waste places, and will make her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the garden of the Lord; joy and gladness will be found in her, thanksgiving and the voice of melody.

4 Give ear to me, my people, and give ear to me, my nation; for from me will go forth the law, and my justice will be established as a light to the peoples.

5 My righteousness is near, my salvation is on its way, and my arms will judge the peoples; the islands will wait for me, and in my arm they will hope.

6 Lift up your eyes to the heavens, and look at the earth beneath; for the heavens will vanish like smoke, and the earth will wear out like a garment, and its inhabitants will die likewise; but my salvation will last forever, and my righteousness will not be broken.

7 Listen to me, you who know righteousness, you people in whose hearts is my law: do not fear the reproach of men, nor be dismayed by their insults.

8 For the moth will eat them up like a garment, and the worm will devour them like wool; but my righteousness will last forever, and my salvation from generation to generation.

9 Awake, awake, put on strength, O arm of the Lord; awake as in the days of old, as in the generations of long ago; Are you not the one who cut Rahab in pieces and wounded the dragon?

10 Are you not the one who dried up the sea, the waters of the great deep? Who made a path in the depths of the sea so that the redeemed might pass through?

11 So the ransomed of the Lord will return and come to Zion with singing; everlasting joy will crown their heads. Gladness and joy will overtake them, and sorrow and sighing will flee away.

12 I, even I, am he who comforts you. Who are you that you should fear mortal man, human beings who are like grass?

13 Do you forget the Lord your Maker, who stretched out the heavens and laid the foundations of the earth? Do you continually fear the wrath of the oppressor? Where is the wrath of him who afflicted you?

14 The captive exile will soon be released, and he will not die in the cave, nor will his bread fail him.

15 For I am the Lord your God, who divides the sea, so that its waves roar. The Lord of Hosts is his name.

16 I have put my words in your mouth and covered you with the shadow of my hand, to plant the heavens and lay the foundations of the earth, and to say to Zion, “You are my people.”

17 Awake, awake, rise up, Jerusalem! You have drunk from the hand of the Lord the cup of his wrath; you have drunk and swallowed the dregs of the cup of stumbling.

18 Of all the children she bore, there is none to guide her gently; of all the children she raised, there is none to take her by the hand.

19 These two things have happened to you; who will have pity on you? Desolation, and destruction, and famine, and the sword! How shall I comfort you?

20 Your children have fainted; they lie in the streets of every road like an antelope in a net; they are full of the wrath of the Lord and the rebuke of your God.

21 Therefore hear this, you afflicted one, drunk but not with wine.

22 Thus says your Lord, the Lord, your God, who will plead the cause of his people: Behold, I take from your hand the cup of stumbling, the dregs of the cup of my wrath; you shall drink no more of it.

23 But I will put it into the hands of those who afflicted you, who say to your soul, “Bow down, that we may pass over you”; and you have made your back like the ground, and like a road for passersby.

1 Ouvi-me vós, os que seguis a justiça, os que buscais ao Senhor: olhai para a rocha onde fostes cortados, e para a caverna do poço donde fostes cavados.

2 Olhai para Abraão, vosso pai, e para Sara, que vos deu à luz; porque, sendo ele só, eu o chamei, e o abençoei e o multipliquei.

3 Porque o Senhor consolará a Sião; consolará a todos os seus lugares assolados, e fará o seu deserto como o Éden, e a sua solidão como o jardim do Senhor: gozo e alegria se achará nela, ação de graças, e voz de melodia.

4 Atendi-me, povo meu, e nação minha, inclinai os ouvidos para mim; porque de mim sairá a lei, e o meu juízo se estabelecerá como luz dos povos.

5 Perto está a minha justiça, vem saindo a minha salvação, e os meus braços julgarão os povos: as ilhas me aguardarão, e no meu braço esperarão.

6 Levantai aos vossos olhos para os céus, e olhai para a terra de baixo, porque os céus desaparecerão como o fumo, e a terra se envelhecerá como um vestido, e os seus moradores morrerão semelhantemente; mas a minha salvação durará para sempre, e a minha justiça não será quebrantada.

7 Ouvi-me, vós que conheceis a justiça, vós povo, em cujo coração está a minha lei: não temais o opróbrio dos homens, nem vos turbeis pelas suas injúrias.

8 Porque a traça os roerá como a um vestido, e o bicho os comerá como à lã: mas a minha justiça durará para sempre, e a minha salvação de geração em geração.

9 Desperta, desperta, veste-te de força, ó braço do Senhor: desperta como nos dias passados, como nas gerações antigas; não és tu aquele que cortou em pedaços a Raabe, e feriu o dragão?

10 Não és tu aquele que secou o mar, as águas do grande abismo? O que fez o caminho no fundo do mar, para que passassem os remidos?

11 Assim voltarão os resgatados do Senhor, e virão a Sião com júbilo, e perpétua alegria haverá sobre as suas cabeças: gozo e alegria alcançarão, a tristeza e o gemido fugirão.

12 Eu, eu sou aquele que vos consola; quem pois és tu, para que temas o homem, que é mortal, ou o filho do homem que se tornará em feno?

13 E te esqueces do Senhor que te criou, que estendeu os céus, e fundou a terra, e temes continuamente todo o dia o furor do angustiador? Onde está o furor do que te atribulava?

14 O exilado cativo depressa será solto, e não morrerá na caverna, e o seu pão lhe não faltará.

15 Porque eu sou o Senhor teu Deus, que fende o mar, e bramem as suas ondas. O Senhor dos Exércitos é o seu nome.

16 E ponho as minhas palavras na tua boca, e te cubro com a sombra da minha mão; para plantar os céus, e para fundar a terra, e para dizer a Sião: Tu és o meu povo.

17 Desperta, desperta, levanta-te, ó Jerusalém, que bebeste da mão do Senhor o cálice do seu furor, bebeste e sorveste as fezes do cálice da vacilação.

18 De todos os filhos que teve nenhum há que a guie mansamente; e de todos os filhos que criou nenhum que a tome pela mão.

19 Estas duas coisas te aconteceram; quem terá compaixão de ti? A assolação, e o quebrantamento, e a fome, e a espada! Como te consolarei?

20 Já os teus filhos desmaiaram, jazem nas estradas de todos os caminhos como o antílope na rede; cheios estão do furor do Senhor e da repreensão do teu Deus.

21 Pelo que agora ouve isto, ó opressa, e embriagada, mas não de vinho.

22 Assim diz o teu Senhor, Jeová, e teu Deus, que pleiteará a causa do seu povo: Eis que eu tomo da tua mão o cálice da vacilação, as fezes do cálice do meu furor; nunca mais dele beberás.

23 Mas pô-lo-ei nas mãos dos que te entristeceram, que dizem à tua alma: Abaixa-te, para que passemos sobre ti: e tu puseste as tuas costas como chão, e como caminho, aos viandantes.

1 प्रभु यों कहता है: तेरी माता का त्यागपत्र कहाँ है, जिसके द्वारा मैंने उसे त्याग दिया? या मेरा कौन सा ऋणदाता है, जिसके हाथ मैंने तुझे बेच दिया? देख, अपने अधर्म के कामों के कारण तूने अपने आप को बेच दिया है, और तेरे अपराधों के कारण तेरी माता को त्याग दिया गया है।

2 मैं क्यों आया, और कोई प्रकट नहीं हुआ? मैंने पुकारा, और किसी ने उत्तर नहीं दिया? क्या मेरा हाथ इतना छोटा हो गया है कि छुड़ा नहीं सकता? या क्या मुझमें अब और कोई शक्ति नहीं रही कि छुड़ा सकूँ? देख, अपनी डाँट से मैं समुद्र को सुखा देता हूँ, और नदियों को रेगिस्तान बना देता हूँ, यहाँ तक कि उनकी मछलियाँ पानी के बिना प्यास से मर जाती हैं, क्योंकि उनमें दुर्गंध आती है।

3 मैं आकाश को काला वस्त्र पहनाता हूँ, और उन पर टाट ओढ़ाता हूँ।

4 प्रभु परमेश्वर ने मुझे विद्वानों की जीभ दी है, ताकि मैं थके हुए व्यक्ति से समय पर बात करना जान सकूँ: वह मेरे कानों को जागृत करता है कि मैं विद्वानों की तरह सुन सकूँ। 

5 यहोवा परमेश्वर ने मेरे कान खोले हैं, और मैं ने बलवा न किया; मैं पीछे न हटा। 

6 मैंने अपने मारनेवालों को अपनी पीठ और मेरी दाढ़ी नोचनेवालों को अपने गाल दिए; मैंने उन लोगों से अपना मुँह न छिपाया जो मेरी निन्दा करते और मुझ पर थूकते थे। 

7 क्योंकि यहोवा परमेश्वर मेरी सहायता करता है, इसलिये मैं लज्जित न होऊँगा; इसलिये मैंने अपना मुख चकमक पत्थर के समान दृढ़ किया है; और मुझे निश्चय है कि मैं लज्जित न होऊँगा। 

8 मेरा बचाव करनेवाला निकट है; मेरे साथ कौन वादविवाद करेगा? आओ हम एक साथ खड़े हों; मेरा विरोधी कौन है? वह मेरे निकट आए। 

9 देख, यहोवा परमेश्वर मेरी सहायता करता है: कौन है जो मुझे दोषी ठहराएगा? देख, वे सब वस्त्र के समान पुराने हो जाएँगे; कीड़ा उन्हें खा जाएगा। 

10 तुम में से कौन यहोवा का भय मानता और उसके दास की बात मानता है? जब वह अन्धकार में चले और उसके पास कोई ज्योति न हो, तो उसे यहोवा के नाम पर भरोसा रखना चाहिए और अपने परमेश्वर पर निर्भर रहना चाहिए।

11 देखो, तुम सब जो आग जलाते हो और अपने चारों ओर चिंगारियाँ लगाते हो: अपनी आग की लपटों में और अपनी ही सुलगाई हुई चिंगारियाँ में चलो; यह मेरे हाथ से हुआ है, और तुम पीड़ा में पड़े रहोगे।

The Lord's Servant Outraged and Rescued

1 Thus says the Lord: Where is the certificate of divorce of your mother, by which I put her away? Or who is my creditor, to whom I have sold you? Behold, for your iniquities you have sold yourselves, and for your transgressions your mother was put away.

2 Why did I come, and no one appeared? I called, and no one answered? Is my hand so shortened that it cannot redeem? Or is there no more strength in me to deliver? Behold, with my rebuke I dry up the sea, I make the rivers a desert, until their fish stink, because they have no water and die of thirst.

3 I clothe the heavens with blackness, and I will put sackcloth over them.

4 The Lord God has given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: He awakeneth mine ear to hear as the learned.

5 The Lord God hath opened mine ears, and I was not rebellious: I did not turn back.

6 I gave my back to them that smitten me, and my cheeks to them that plucked out my beard: I hid not my face from them that reproached and spat upon me.

7 For the Lord God helpeth me; therefore shall I not be confounded: therefore have I set my face as a flint; and I know that I shall not be confounded.

8 He that vindicateth me is nigh: who shall contend with me? Let us stand up together: who is mine adversary? let him come near unto me.

9 Behold, the Lord God helpeth me: who is he that shall condemn me? Behold, they shall all wear out as a garment; the moth shall eat them up. 

10 Who among you fears the Lord and obeys the voice of his servant? When walking in darkness and having no light, let him trust in the name of the Lord and rely on his God.

11 Behold, all you who kindle a fire and encircle yourselves with sparks: walk in the flames of your fire, and in the sparks that you have kindled: this comes from my hand, and you shall lie down in torment.

1 Assim diz o Senhor: Onde está o libelo de divórcio de vossa mãe, pelo qual eu a repudiei? Ou quem é o meu credor, a quem eu vos tenha vendido? Eis que por vossas maldades fostes vendidos, e por vossas prevaricações vossa mãe foi repudiada.

2 Por que razão vim eu, e ninguém apareceu? Chamei, e ninguém respondeu? Tanto se encolheu a minha mão, que já não possa remir? Ou não há mais força em mim para livrar? Eis que com a minha repreensão faço secar o mar, torno os rios em deserto, até que cheirem mal os seus peixes, pois não têm água e morrem de sede.

3Eu visto os céus de negridão, e pôr-lhes-ei um saco por sua cobertura.

4 O Senhor Jeová me deu uma língua erudita, para que eu saiba dizer a seu tempo uma boa palavra ao que está cansado: Ele desperta-me o ouvido para que ouça como aqueles que aprendem.

5 O Senhor Jeová me abriu os ouvidos, e eu não fui rebelde: não me retiro para trás.

6 As minhas costas dou aos que me fere, e as minhas faces aos que me arrancam os cabelos: não escondo a minha face dos que me afrontam e me cospem.

7 Porque o Senhor Jeová me ajuda, pelo que me não confundo; por isso pus o meu rosto como um seixo, e sei que não serei confundido.

8 Perto está o que me justifica; quem contenderá comigo? Compareçamos juntamente; quem é meu adversário? Chegue-se para mim.

9 Eis que o Senhor Jeová me ajuda; quem há que me condene? Eis que todos eles como vestidos se envelhecerão, e a traça os comerá.

10 Quem há entre vós que tema a JEOVÁ, e ouça a voz do seu servo? Quando andar em trevas, e não tiver luz nenhuma, confie no nome do Senhor, e firme-se sobre o seu Deus.

11 Eis todos vós, que acendeis fogo e vos cingis com faíscas: andai entre as labaredas do vosso fogo, e entre as faíscas que acendestes: isto vos vem da minha mão, e em tormentos jazereis.

प्रभु का सेवक अन्यजातियों के लिए प्रकाश है

1 हे द्वीपो, मेरी सुनो; हे दूर के राष्ट्रो, यह सुनो: प्रभु ने मुझे गर्भ से ही बुलाया, मेरी माता के शरीर से ही उसने मेरा नाम रखा।

2 उसने मेरे मुँह को तेज़ तलवार के समान बनाया, अपने हाथ की आड़ में उसने मुझे छिपा लिया; उसने मुझे चमकीला तीर बनाया और अपने तर्कश में छिपा लिया।

3 उसने मुझसे कहा, "हे इस्राएल, तू मेरा सेवक है, मैं तुझमें अपनी महिमा प्रकट करूँगा।"

4 परन्तु मैंने कहा, "मैंने व्यर्थ परिश्रम किया है; मैंने अपनी शक्ति व्यर्थ और व्यर्थ ही खर्च की है। फिर भी निश्चय ही मेरा अधिकार प्रभु के पास है, और मेरा प्रतिफल मेरे परमेश्वर के पास है।"

5 "और अब प्रभु कहता है—जिसने मुझे गर्भ में अपना सेवक होने के लिए रचा—कि याकूब को उसके पास लौटा लाऊँ, यद्यपि इस्राएल इकट्ठा नहीं हुआ है—तौभी मैं प्रभु की दृष्टि में आदर पाऊँगा, और मेरा परमेश्वर मेरा बल होगा।"

6 उसने आगे कहा: “याकूब के गोत्रों को पुनर्स्थापित करने और इस्राएल के रक्षित लोगों को वापस लाने के लिए तू मेरा सेवक होना बहुत छोटी बात है; मैं तुझे अन्यजातियों के लिए भी एक ज्योति बनाऊँगा, ताकि तू पृथ्वी की छोर तक मेरा उद्धार पहुँचाए।”

7 इस्राएल का छुड़ानेवाला, उसका पवित्र जन यहोवा, तुच्छ समझे जानेवाले से, उस से जिससे अन्यजातियाँ घृणा करती हैं, शासकों के सेवक से यों कहता है: “राजा देखकर उठ खड़े होंगे, यह यहोवा के कारण होगा, जो विश्वासयोग्य है, इस्राएल का पवित्र जन है, जिसने तुझे चुना है।”

8 यहोवा यों कहता है: “अनुग्रह के समय मैं ने तेरी सुन ली है, और उद्धार के दिन मैं ने तेरी सहायता की है; मैं तेरी रक्षा करूँगा और तुझे प्रजा के लिये वाचा ठहराऊँगा, कि तू देश को फिर बसाए और उजड़े हुए लोगों को उनकी भूमि सौंप दे,

9 कि तू बन्दियों से कहे, ‘बाहर आओ,’ और जो अन्धकार में हैं, उनसे कहे, ‘प्रकट हो जाओ।’ वे मार्गों के किनारे चरेंगे, और सब ऊँचे स्थानों पर उनका चरवाहा होगा;

10 वे न भूखे रहेंगे, न प्यासे, न चिलचिलाती धूप या धूप उन पर पड़ेगी; क्योंकि जो उन पर दया करता है, वही उनका मार्ग दर्शन करेगा, और उन्हें धीरे से जल के सोतों के पास ले जाएगा।

11 मैं अपने सब पहाड़ों को मार्ग बनाऊँगा, और मेरे राजमार्ग ऊँचे किए जाएँगे।

12 देखो, ये दूर से आएँगे; और देखो, ये उत्तर से, और पश्चिम से, और ये सीनियों के देश से आएँगे।

1 Listen to me, you islands; hear this, you distant nations: The Lord called me from the womb, from the body of my mother he named me.

2 He made my mouth like a sharp sword, in the shadow of his hand he hid me; he made me into a polished arrow and concealed me in his quiver.

3 He said to me, “You are my servant, Israel, in whom I will display my splendor.”

4 But I said, “I have labored in vain; I have spent my strength for nothing and in vain. Yet surely my right is with the Lord, and my reward with my God.”

5 “And now the Lord says—he who formed me in the womb to be his servant—to bring Jacob back to him, though Israel has not been gathered—yet I will be honored in the eyes of the Lord, and my God will be my strength.”

6 He said further: “It is too small a thing for you to be my servant to restore the tribes of Jacob and bring back the preserved of Israel; I will also make you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring my salvation to the ends of the earth.”

7 This is what the Lord, the Redeemer of Israel, his Holy One, says to the despised one, to the one whom the nations abhor, to the servant of rulers: “Kings will see and rise up, because of the Lord, who is faithful, the Holy One of Israel, who has chosen you.”

8 This is what the Lord says: “In the time of favor I have answered you, and in the day of salvation I have helped you; I will keep you and will make you to be a covenant for the people, to restore the land and to assign to them the desolate heritages,

9 to say to the prisoners, ‘Come out,’ and to those in darkness, ‘Appear.’ They will feed along the roads, and on all the high places they will have their shepherd;

10 they will neither hunger nor thirst, nor will the scorching heat or sun beat down on them; For he who has compassion on them will guide them, and will lead them gently to springs of water.

11 I will make all my mountains a road, and my highways will be raised up.

12 Behold, these shall come from afar; and lo, these from the north, and from the west, and these from the land of Sinim.

13 Rejoice, O heavens; and be glad, O earth; and break forth into singing, O mountains: for the Lord hath comforted his people, and will have compassion on his afflicted.

14 But Zion said, The Lord hath forsaken me, and the Lord hath forgotten me.

15 Can a woman forget her nursing child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? Yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee.

16 Behold, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; your walls are continually before me.

17 Your children will come quickly, but your destroyers and those who laid you waste will depart from you.

18 Lift up your eyes all around and see: all these who gather together come to you; as I live, says the Lord, you shall clothe yourself with them all as with an ornament, and bind them on you as a bride does.

19 For in your deserts, and in your desolate places, and in your ruined land, you shall now be crowded with inhabitants, and those who devoured you shall be far away from you.

20 Even the children of your orphanhood shall say in your ears, “This place is too small for me; depart from me, that I may dwell in it.”

21 And you shall say in your heart, “Who bore me these? For I was childless and desolate; I had gone into captivity, and had been taken away; who then created these for me? Behold, I was left alone; and these, where were they?

22 Thus says the Lord: Behold, I will lift up my hand to the nations, and raise my banner to the peoples; then they shall bring your sons in their arms, and your daughters shall be carried on their shoulders.

23 And kings shall be your foster fathers, and their princesses your nursing mothers; they shall bow down before you with their faces to the ground and lick the dust of your feet, and you shall know that I am the Lord, and that those who trust in me shall not be put to shame.

24 Shall plunder be taken from the mighty? Or shall captives escape justly?

25 But thus says the Lord: Surely captives shall be taken from the mighty, and plunder from the tyrant shall escape; for I will contend with those who contend with you, and I will redeem your children.

7 Assim diz o Senhor, o Redentor de Israel, o seu Santo, à alma desprezada, ao que as nações abominam, ao servo dos que dominam: Os reis o verão, e se levantarão; por amor do Senhor, que é fiel, e do Santo de Israel, que te escolheu.

8 Assim diz o Senhor: No tempo favorável te ouvi e no dia da salvação te ajudei, e te guardarei, e te darei por concerto do povo, para restaurares a terra, e lhe dares em herança as herdades assoladas:

9 परन्तु ये दोनों विपत्तियाँ एक ही क्षण में, एक ही दिन में तुझ पर आ पड़ेंगी: बच्चों का नाश और विधवापन। तेरे बहुत से टोने-टोटके और तेरे बहुत से तंत्र-मंत्र के कारण ये अपने पूरे बल से तुझ पर आ पड़ेंगी।

1 Come down, and sit in the dust, O virgin daughter of Babylon; sit on the ground; there is no throne anymore, O daughter of the Chaldeans, for you will never again be called tender or delicate.

2 Take the millstone, and grind flour; uncover your head, take off your sandals, uncover your legs, and cross the rivers.

3 Your shame will be uncovered, and your disgrace will be seen; I will take vengeance, and I will not show partiality to any man.

4 The name of our redeemer is the Lord of hosts, the Holy One of Israel.

5 Sit in silence and enter into darkness, O daughter of the Chaldeans, for you will never again be called mistress of kingdoms.

6 I was very angry with my people; I defiled my inheritance and gave them into your hand. You showed them no mercy, and even on the elderly you made your yoke very heavy.

7 You said, “I will be mistress forever.” Until now you have not considered these things in your heart or remembered their end.

8 Now therefore hear this, you who are given to pleasures, who dwell securely, who say in your heart, “I am, and there is no one else besides me; I will not be a widow, nor will I know the loss of children.”

9 But both these things will come upon you in a moment, in a single day: the loss of children and widowhood. They will come upon you in all their force because of the multitude of your sorceries and the abundance of your enchantments.

10 Because you trusted in your wickedness and said, “No one can see me”; Your wisdom and your knowledge—these have led you astray. You have said in your heart, “I am, and there is no one besides me.”

11 Therefore, disaster will come upon you, the origin of which you will not know, and such destruction will fall upon you that you will not be able to avert it. For sudden and overwhelming desolation will come upon you, which you will not be able to recognize.

12 Stand still with your enchantments and with the multitude of your sorceries, in which you have labored from your youth. See if you can profit or perhaps strengthen yourself.

13 You have wearied yourself with the multitude of your counsels. Let now the astrologers, the stargazers, the monthly prognosticators, stand up and save you from what is coming upon you.

14 Behold, they shall be like stubble; the fire shall burn them; they shall not be able to deliver themselves from the power of the flame. It will not be a fire to warm themselves by, nor a fire to sit by.

15 So will those with whom you have worked, your merchants from your youth, be toward you: each will wander off on his own path; no one will save you.

1 Desce, e assenta-te no pó, ó virgem filha de Babilônia; assenta-te no chão; não há já trono, ó filha dos caldeus, porque nunca mais serás chamada a tenra nem a delicada.

2 Toma a mói, e mói a farinha: descobre a tua cabeça, descalça os pés, descobre as pernas e passa os rios.

3 A tua vergonha se descobrirá, e ver-se-á o teu opróbrio: tomarei vingança, e não farei acepção de homem algum.

4 O nome do nosso redentor é o Senhor dos Exércitos, o Santo de Israel.

5 Assenta-te silenciosa e entra nas trevas, ó filha dos caldeus, porque nunca mais serás chamada senhora de reinos.

6 Muito me agastei contra o meu povo, tornei profana a minha herança, e os entreguei na tua mão: não usaste com eles de misericórdia, e até sobre os velhos fizeste muito pesado o teu jugo.

7 E dizias: Eu serei senhora para sempre: até agora não tomaste estas coisas em teu coração, nem lembraste do fim delas.

8 Agora pois ouve isto, tu que és dada a delícias, que habitas tão segura, que dizes no teu coração: Eu sou e fora de mim não há outra; não ficarei viúva, nem conhecerei a perda de filhos.

9 Mas ambas estas coisas virão sobre ti num momento, no mesmo dia, perda de filhos e viuvez: em toda a sua força virão sobre ti, por causa da multidão das tuas feitiçarias, por causa da abundância dos teus muitos encantamentos.

10 Porque confiaste na tua maldade e disseste: Ninguém me pode ver; a tua sabedoria e a tua ciência, isso te fez desviar, e disseste no teu coração: Eu sou, e fora de mim não há outro.

11 Pelo que sobre ti virá mal de que não saberás a origem, e tal destruição cairá sobre ti, que a não poderás afastar; porque virá sobre ti de repente tão tempestuosa desolação, que a não poderás conhecer.

12 Deixa-te estar com os teus encantamentos, e com a multidão das tuas feitiçarias em que trabalhaste desde a tua mocidade, e ver se podes tirar proveito, ou se porventura te podes fortificar.

13 Cansaste-te na multidão dos teus conselhos; levantem-se pois agora os agoureiros dos céus, os que contemplavam os astros, os prognosticadores das luas novas, e salvem-te do que há de vir sobre ti.

14 Eis que serão como a pragana, o fogo os queimará; não poderão salvar a sua vida do poder da labareda; ela não será um braseiro, para se aquentarem, nem fogo para se assentarem junto dele.

15 Assim serão para contigo aqueles com quem trabalhaste, os teus negociantes desde a tua mocidade: cada qual irá vagueando pelo seu caminho; ninguém te salvará.

1 Bel is brought low, Nebo is bowed down; their idols are set on animals, on beasts: the burdens of your loads are a weariness to the weary beasts.

2 They bowed down together and were brought low; they could not free themselves from the burden, but their soul went into captivity.

3 Hear me, O house of Jacob, and all the remnant of the house of Israel, you whom I carried in my arms from the womb, and bore from the birth.

4 Even to your old age I am he, and even to gray hairs I will carry you; I have made you, and I will carry you, and I will keep you.

5 To whom will you liken me? Or what will you compare me to? Or what will you compare me to, that we may be alike?

6 They lavish gold from the purse and weigh out silver on the scales; they hire a goldsmith, and he makes a god, and they bow down and worship it.

7 They lift it onto their shoulders, carry it, and set it in its place; there it stands, from its place it does not move; and if they cry out to it, it gives no answer, nor does it deliver anyone from their trouble.

8 Remember this, and take heart; take it back to heart, you transgressors.

9 Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is no other; there is none like me.

10 Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, “My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure”;

11 I call a bird of prey from the east, and the man of my counsel from a far country; for I have spoken, and it shall come to pass; I have purposed, and I will also do it.

12 Hear me, you stubborn of heart, you who are far from righteousness.

13 I will bring near my righteousness, it will not be far off, and my salvation will not delay; I will establish salvation in Zion, and my glory in Israel.

1 Já Bel abatida está, já Nebo se encurvou, os seus ídolos são postos sobre os animais, sobre as bestas: as cargas dos vossos fardos, são canseira para as bestas já cansadas.

2 Juntamente se encurvaram e se abateram; não puderam livrar-se da carga, mas a sua alma entrou em cativeiro.

3 Ouvi-me, ó casa de Jacó, e todo o resíduo da casa de Israel; vós a quem trouxe nos braços desde o ventre, e levei desde a madre.

4 E até à velhice eu serei o mesmo, e ainda até às cãs eu vos trarei: eu o fiz, e eu vos levarei, e eu vos trarei, e vos guardarei.

5 A quem me fareis semelhante, e com que me igualareis, e me comparareis, para que sejamos semelhantes?

6 Gastam o ouro da bolsa, e pesam a prata nas balanças: assalariam o ourives, e ele faz um deus, e diante dele se prostram e se inclinam.

7 Sobre os ombros o tomam, o levam, e o põem no seu lugar; ali está, do seu lugar não se move; e, se recorrem a ele, resposta nenhuma dá, nem livra alguém da sua tribulação.

8 Lembrai-vos disto, e tende ânimo; reconduzi-o ao coração, ó prevaricadores.

9 Lembrai-vos das coisas passadas desde a antigüidade: que eu sou Deus, e não há outro Deus, não há outro semelhante a mim.

10 Que anuncio o fim desde o princípio e desde a antigüidade as coisas que ainda não sucederam; que digo: O meu conselho será firme, e farei toda a minha vontade;

11 Que chamo a ave de rapina desde o oriente, e o homem do meu conselho desde terras remotas; porque assim o disse, e assim acontecerá; eu o determinei, e também o farei.

12 Ouvi-me, ó duros de coração, os que estais longe da justiça.

13 Faço chegar a minha justiça, e não estará longe, e a minha salvação não tardará: mas estabelecerei em Sião a salvação, e em Israel a minha glória.

19 मैं ने न तो गुप्त में, न पृथ्वी के किसी अन्धकारमय स्थान में बातें कीं; मैं ने याकूब के घराने से नहीं कहा, 'मुझे व्यर्थ ढूंढ़ो! मैं यहोवा हूं, जो धर्म की बातें कहता और सही बातें बताता हूं।'

20 हे जातियों में से बचे हुए लोगों, इकट्ठे होकर आओ; एक साथ निकट आओ! वे कुछ नहीं जानते जो अपनी लकड़ी की खुदी हुई मूर्तियों को जुलूस में लिए फिरते हैं और ऐसे देवता से प्रार्थना करते हैं जो बचा नहीं सकता।

1 Thus says the Lord to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have held, to subdue nations before him: I will loosen the loins of kings, to open doors before him, and gates will not be shut.

2 I will go before you and make straight the crooked places; I will break down the gates of bronze and cut in pieces the bars of iron.

3 I will give you the treasures of darkness and hidden riches, so that you may know that I am the Lord, the God of Israel, who calls you by your name.

4 For the sake of Jacob my servant, and of Israel my chosen, I will call you by your name; I have given you your surname, though you have not known me.

5 I am the Lord, and there is no other; besides me there is no God; I will gird you, though you have not known me.

 6 That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none besides me: I am the Lord, and there is no other.

7 I form the light, and create darkness; I make peace, and create evil; I, the Lord, do all these things.

8 Drop down, you heavens from above, and let the clouds rain down righteousness; let the earth open, and salvation spring forth, and righteousness spring up together; I, the Lord, have created them.

9 Woe to him who strives with his Maker! A potsherd among potsherds of clay! Should the clay say to him who formed it, 'What are you making?' or to your work, 'Do you have no hands?'

10 Woe to him who says to his father, 'What are you bearing?' or to his wife, 'What are you giving birth to?'

11 Thus says the Lord, the Holy One of Israel, his Maker: Ask me of things to come; demand of me concerning my children, and concerning the work of my hands.

12 I made the earth, and created man upon it; I made him; my hands stretched out the heavens, and I commanded all their hosts.

13 I have awakened him in righteousness, and I will make all his ways straight: he shall build my city, and he shall release my captives, not for price nor reward, says the Lord of hosts.

14 Thus says the Lord: The labor of Egypt, and the merchandise of the Ethiopians, and the Sabeans, men of stature, shall come over to you, and they shall be yours; they shall come after you, in fetters, and bow down before you; they shall make their supplication to you, saying, 'Surely God is in you, and there is no other god besides.'

15 Truly you are the God who hides yourself, the God of Israel, the Savior. 

16 They will be ashamed, they will all be confounded; they will fall together with shame who make idols.

17 But Israel is saved by the Lord with an everlasting salvation; therefore you will not be ashamed nor confounded forever and ever.

18 For thus says the Lord, who created the heavens, the God who formed the earth and made it; he established it; he did not create it in vain, but formed it to be inhabited: I am the Lord, and there is no other.

19 I have not spoken in secret, nor in a dark place of the earth; I have not said to the house of Jacob, 'Seek me in vain! I am the Lord, speaking righteousness, declaring what is right.'

20 Gather yourselves together, and come; draw near together, you who are escaped from the nations! They know nothing who carry their carved images of wood in procession and pray to a god who cannot save. 

21 Declare, and come near, and take counsel together: who hath declared this of old? Who hath declared it since then? It is not I; there is no righteous God and Savior beside me.

22 Look to me, and be saved, all the ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is no other.

23 By myself I have sworn; the word of righteousness hath gone out of my mouth, and shall not return: that to me every knee shall bow, and to me every tongue shall swear.

24 Of me it shall be said, Surely in the Lord there are righteousness and strength: all who are incensed against him shall come, and be ashamed.

1 Assim diz o Senhor ao seu ungido, a Ciro, a quem tomo pela sua mão direita, para abater as nações diante de sua face; eu soltarei os lombos dos reis, para abrir diante dele as portas, e as portas não se fecharão.

2 Eu irei diante de ti, e endireitarei os caminhos tortos; quebrarei as portas de bronze, despedaçarei os ferrolhos de ferro.

3 E te darei os tesouros das escuridades, e as riquezas encobertas, para que possas saber que eu sou o Senhor, o Deus de Israel, que te chama pelo teu nome.

4 Por amor de meu servo Jacó, e de Israel, meu eleito, eu a ti te chamarei pelo teu nome, pus-te o teu sobrenome, ainda que me não conhecesses.

5 Eu sou o Senhor, e não há outro: fora de mim não há Deus; eu te cingirei ainda que tu me não conheças.

6 Para que se saiba desde o nascente do sol, e desde o poente, que fora de mim não há outro: eu sou o Senhor, e não há outro.

7 Eu formo a luz, e crio as trevas; eu faço a paz, e crio o mal; eu, o Senhor, faço todas estas coisas.

8 Destilai vós, céus, dessas alturas, e as nuvens chovam justiça; abra-se a terra, e produza-se salvação, e a justiça frutifique juntamente; eu, o Senhor, as criei.

9 Ai daquele que contende com o seu Criador! O caco entre outros cacos de barro! Porventura dirá o barro ao que o formou: Que fazes? Ou a tua obra: Não tens mãos?

10 Ai daquele que diz ao pai: Que é o que geras? E à mulher: Que dás tu à luz?

11 Assim diz o Senhor, o Santo de Israel, aquele que o formou: Perguntai-me as coisas futuras; demandai-me acerca de meus filhos, e acerca da obra das minhas mãos.

12 Eu fiz a terra, e criei nela o homem; eu o fiz; as minhas mãos estenderam os céus, e a todos os seus exércitos dei as minhas ordens.

13 Eu o despertei em justiça, e todos os seus caminhos endireitarei: ele edificará a minha cidade, e soltará os meus cativos não por preço nem por presentes, diz o Senhor dos Exércitos.

14 Assim diz o Senhor: O trabalho do Egito, e o comércio dos etíopes, e os sabeus, homens de alta estatura, se passarão para ti, e serão teus; irão atrás de ti, virão em grilhões, e diante de ti se prostrarão; far-te-ão as suas súplicas, dizendo: Deveras Deus está em ti, e nenhum outro deus há mais.

15 Verdadeiramente tu és o Deus que te ocultas, o Deus de Israel, o Salvador.

16 Envergonhar-se-ão, e também se confundirão todos: cairão juntamente na afronta os que fabricam imagens.

17 Mas Israel é salvo pelo Senhor, com uma eterna salvação; pelo que não sereis envergonhados nem confundidos em todas as eternidades.

18 Porque assim diz o Senhor que tem criado os céus, o Deus que formou a terra, e a fez; ele a estabeleceu, não a criou vazia, mas a formou para que fosse habitada: Eu sou o Senhor e não há outro.

19 Não falei em segredo, nem em lugar algum escuro da terra: não disse à descendência de Jacó: Buscai-me em vão: eu sou o Senhor, que falo a justiça, e anuncio coisas retas.

20 Congregai-vos, e vinde; chegai-vos juntos, os que escapastes das nações: nada sabem os que conduzem em procissão as suas imagens de escultura, feitas de madeira, e rogam a um deus que não pode salvar.

21 Anunciai, e chegai-vos, e tomai conselho todos juntos: quem fez ouvir isto desde a antiguidade? Quem desde então o anunciou? Porventura não sou eu; Deus justo e Salvador não há fora de mim.

22 Olhai para mim, e sereis salvos, vós, todos os termos da terra; porque eu sou Deus, e não há outro.

23 Por mim mesmo tenho jurado; saiu da minha boca a palavra de justiça, e não tornará atrás: que diante de mim se dobrará todo o joelho, e por mim jurará toda a língua.

24 De mim se dirá: Deveras no Senhor há justiça e força: até ele virão mas serão envergonhados todos os que se irritarem contra ele.

25 Mas no Senhor será justificada e se gloriará toda a descendência de Israel.

21 Remember these things, O Jacob, and O Israel, for you are My servant; I formed you; you are My servant, O Israel; I will not forget you.

22 I have blotted out your transgressions like a thick mist, and your sins like a cloud. Return to Me, for I have redeemed you.

23 Sing for joy, O heavens, for the Lord has done this; break forth into singing, O lower parts of the earth; break forth into singing, O mountains; break forth into singing, O forests, and all you trees within you; for the Lord has redeemed Jacob and glorified Himself in Israel. 

24 Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer, who formed you from the womb: I am the Lord who makes all things, who stretches out the heavens and spreads out the earth by myself;

25 Who frustrates the signs of the liars and makes diviners mad; who turns wise men back and upsets their knowledge;

26 I am the one who confirms the word of his servant and fulfills the counsel of his messengers; who says to Jerusalem, 'You shall be inhabited,' and to the cities of Judah, 'You shall be rebuilt,' and I will raise up its ruins;

27 Who says to the deep, 'Be dry,' and I will dry up your rivers;

1 Now therefore hear, O Jacob, my servant, and you, O Israel, whom I have chosen.

2 Thus says the Lord, who created you, who formed you from the womb, who will help you: Do not fear, O Jacob, my servant, and you, Jeshurun, whom I have chosen.

3 For I will pour water on the thirsty land, and floods on the dry ground; I will pour out my Spirit on your offspring, and my blessing on your descendants.

4 They will spring up among the grass, like willows by the streams of water.

5 This one will say, 'I am the Lord,' and that one will be called by the name of Jacob; and that one will write with his hand, 'I am the Lord,' and he will be called by the name of Israel. 

6 Thus says the Lord, the King of Israel, and his Redeemer, the Lord of hosts: I am the first, and I am the last, and besides me there is no God.

7 And who will call like me, and declare this, and set it in order before me, since I appointed an eternal people? He will declare the things to come, and the things that are yet to come.

8 Do not be dismayed, nor be afraid; have I not since made it known to you, and declared it to you? For you are my witnesses. Is there any God besides me? No, there is no other Rock that I know.

9 All the makers of carved images are vanity, and their most desirable things are of no value; and their witnesses themselves see nothing or understand nothing, so that they are confounded.

10 Who forms a god, and casts a carved image, which is of no value? 

11 Behold, all his followers will be ashamed, for the craftsmen themselves are from among men; let them all assemble and stand up; they will be dismayed, and be put to shame together.

12 The smith makes the axe, and works in the coals, and shapes it with hammers, and works it with the strength of his arm; he is hungry, and his strength fails, and he drinks no water, and he faints.

13 The carpenter stretches out the rule, uses the awl, he makes plan with the plank, and marks it out with the compass; and he made his god in the likeness of a man, in the form of a man, to dwell in the house.

14 He took for himself cedars, or a cypress or an oak, and strives against the trees of the forest; he plants an elm, and the rain makes it grow.

15 Then they will serve man for the burning; With it he warms himself and bakes bread. He also makes a god and bows down before it. He makes a carved image and kneels before it.

16 Half of it he burns in the fire, and with the other half he eats meat; he roasts it and is satisfied. He also warms himself and says, "I am warm, I have seen the fire."

17 Then with the rest he makes a god, a carved image; he kneels down before it and bows down and prays to it, saying, "Deliver me, for you are my god."

18 They know nothing, nor do they understand; for their eyes have been covered so that they cannot see, and their hearts so that they cannot understand. 

19 And none of them lays it to heart, neither do they have the knowledge nor the understanding to say, 'I burned half of it in the fire, and baked bread on its coals, and roasted meat on it, and ate it; and should I make the rest an abomination? Should I bow down to what came out of a tree?

20 He feeds on ashes; his heart has deceived him; so that he cannot deliver his soul, nor say, 'Is there not a lie in my right hand?'
