Genesis 40
Joseph in prison interprets two dreams
1 It happened after these things they sinned the cupbearer to the king of Egypt and the baker, against their lord the king of Egypt.
2 And very wroth against his two eunuchs, against the chief butler and against the chief baker.
3 And he delivered them to prison, the house of the captain of the guard in the prison, the place where Joseph was imprisoned.
4 And the captain of the guard put them in charge of Joseph, and he served them; and were many days in prison.
5 And they both dreamed a dream, each man his dream in one night, each according to the interpretation of his dream, the cupbearer and the baker of the king of Egypt, who were bound in the prison.
6 And Joseph came to them in the morning and looked at them, and behold, they were troubled.
7 Then asked Pharaoh's eunuchs, who were with him in his master's house the prison, saying, Why are you sad today do you look?
8 And they said unto him, We have dreamed a dream, and there is none that can interpret. And Joseph said to them: Are not interpretations belong to God? Contai me, I pray you.
9 Then said the chief cupbearer his dream to Joseph, and said, Behold, in my dream a vine was before me,
10 And in the vine were three branches, and it was like sprouting; the flower left, its clusters ripened into grapes;
11 And Pharaoh's cup was in my hand, and I took the grapes, and pressed them into Pharaoh's cup, and gave the cup into Pharaoh's hand.
12 Then Joseph said to him: this is the interpretation: The three branches are three days;
13 In yet three days Pharaoh will lift up your head and restore you to your state, and will give Pharaoh's cup into his hand, after the former manner when you were his cupbearer.
14 But remember me when it will be well; and I pray thee, with me uses of compassion, and make mention of me unto Pharaoh, and bring me out of this house;
15 For indeed I was stolen away in the land of the Hebrews; and so little here have I done nothing that they should put me into the dungeon.
16 Seeing then chief baker who had played well, said to Joseph, I also dreamed, and behold, three white baskets were on my head;
17 And in the uppermost basket there was of all Pharaoh's dainties, baker's work; and the birds ate them out of the basket on my head.
18 And Joseph answered and said, This is the interpretation: The three baskets are three days;
19 In yet three days Pharaoh will lift up your head about you and hang you on a stick, and the birds will eat your flesh from you.
20 And it happened on the third day, the day of Pharaoh's birth, who made a feast unto all his servants; and he raised the head of the chief butler and the head of the chief baker in the midst of his servants.
21 And he did make the chief cupbearer to his office of cup-bearer, and he gave the cup into Pharaoh's hand,
22 But the chief baker he hanged, as Joseph had interpreted.
23 The chief butler but did not remember Joseph but forgot him.

10 E na vide três sarmentos, e estava como brotando; a sua flor saía, os seus cachos amadureciam em uvas;
12 Então disse-lhe José: esta é a sua interpretação: Os três sarmentos são três dias;
14 Porém lembra-te de mim, quando te for bem; e rogo-te que uses comigo de compaixão, e que faças menção de mim a Faraó, e faze-me sair desta casa;
16 Vendo então o padeiro-mor que tinha interpretado bem, disse a José: Eu também sonhava, e eis que três cestos brancos estavam sobre a minha cabeça;
18 Então respondeu José, e disse: Esta é a sua interpretação: Os três cestos são três dias;

Genesis 39 Joseph in Potiphar's house
Genesis 39
Joseph in Potiphar's house
1 And Joseph was brought into Egypt, and Potiphar, a eunuch of Pharaoh, captain of the guard, an Egyptian, bought him from the Ishmaelites who had taken there.
2 And the Lord was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man; and he was in the house of his Egyptian master.
3 Seeing as your Lord that the Lord was with him and that everything he was doing the Lord prosper in his hand,
4 Joseph found favor in his eyes, and he served him; and he set him over his house and into his hand all he had.
5 And it came to pass, since the had put on his house, and about all he had, the Lord blessed the Egyptian's house for the sake of Joseph; and the Lord's blessing was upon all that he had, in house and field.
6 And he left all that he had in Joseph's hand, so that he knew nothing of what was to him, except the bread which he ate. And Joseph was goodly and beautiful in sight.
7 It happened after these things that the wife of his master put his eyes on Joseph, and said: Lie with me.
8 But he refused, and you said his master's wife, Behold, my master does not know what is in the house with me, and to my hand all you have;
9's bigger than me No one in this house, and no such thing has forbidden me but thee, because thou art his wife: how then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?
10 And it came to pass, as she spake to Joseph every day, not giving her ears to lie down with her and be with her,
11 It happened on a certain day he came to the house to do his business; and none of the house was there;
12 And she caught him by his garment, saying, Lie with me. And he left his garment in her hand, and fled, and got him out.
13 And it came to pass, when she saw that he had left his garment in her hand, and fled forth,
14 He called the men of her house, and spoke to them, saying, See, brought us a Hebrew man to mock us: came to me to lie with me, and I cried with a loud voice,
15 And it came to pass, when he heard that I raised my voice and screamed, he left his garment with me, and fled, and got him out.
16 And she laid his garment by her, until his master came home.
17 Then he spoke to them according to these words, saying came to me the Hebrew servant, he brought him to mock me;
18 And it came to pass, as I lifted my voice and cried, he left his garment with me, and fled out.
19 And it came to pass, when his master heard the words of his wife, who spoke to him, saying: As this manner did thy servant to me, his anger was kindled.
20 And the Lord Joseph took it and handed in the prison, the place where the king's prisoners were bound; It was there in the prison.
21 But the LORD was with Joseph, and extended over him mercy, and gave him favor in the jailer chief's eyes.
22 The jailer-committed to Joseph's hand all the prisoners who were there in the prison, and he did everything that was done there.
23 The jailer chief looked not to any thing that was in his hand; because the LORD was with him, and all he was doing the Lord prospered.

8 Porém ele recusou, e disse á mulher do seu senhor: Eis que o meu senhor não sabe do que há em casa comigo, e entregou em minha mão tudo o que tem;
11 Sucedeu num certo dia que veio á casa para fazer o seu serviço; e nenhum dos da casa estava ali;
17 Então falou-lhes conforme as mesmas palavras, dizendo: Veio a mim o servo hebreu, que nos trouxestes para escarnecer de mim;

Genesis 38 Judah and Tamar
Genesis 38
Judah and Tamar
1 And it happened at that time that Judah went down from his brothers, and entered the house of a man of Adullam whose name was Hira.
2 And Judah saw the daughter of a Canaanite man, whose name was his; and he took it, and went s it.
3 And she conceived and bore a son, and called his name Er;
4 And she conceived, and bare a son, and called his name Onan;
5 He went further, and had a son, and called his name Shelah; and he was in Quezibe when she had.
6 Judah took for a woman for Er his firstborn, and her name was Tamar.
7 Er Judah's firstborn, was wicked in the sight of the Lord, so the Lord killed him.
8 Then Judah said to Onan, Go you your brother's wife, and home yourself with her, and raise up seed to thy brother.
9 Onan knew however that this seed was not to be his; and it happened that when entered will his brother's wife, spilled it on the ground, not to give seed to his brother.
10 And he did evil in the sight of the Lord, for he slew him also.
11 Then Judah said to Tamar his daughter in law, Remain a widow in thy father's house, until Shelah my son be grown. For he said, Lest he also die, like his brothers. So it was Tamar, and was in her father's house.
12 Moving up many days, he died the daughter of His, wife of Judah; and then consoled Judah, and went up to shearers of his sheep at Timnah, he and his friend Hirah the Adullamite.
13 And it was told Tamar, saying, Behold thy father in law goeth up to Timnath to shear his sheep.
14 Then she took off him the garments of her widowhood, and covered herself with her veil, and disguised himself, and sat at the entrance of the two sources on the path of Timna, for she saw that Shelah was grown, and she gave him not out woman.
15 And seeing Judah had her for a prostitute; because she had covered her face.
16 And he turned to her by the way, and said, Come, I pray thee, let me come to you. For I knew not that it was his daughter in law, and she said, What will you give to have you come to me?
17 And he said, I will send thee a kid from the flock. And she said, Will you give me a pledge until you send it?
18 And he said, What pledge shall I give you? And she said, Thy signet, and thy scarf, and the staff that is in your hand. What he gave her, and went in unto her, and she conceived by him.
19 And she arose, and went, and took upon himself her veil, and put on the garments of her widowhood.
20 And Judah sent the kid by the hand of his friend the Adullamite to take the pledge from the woman's hand, but not found.
21 Then he asked the men of that place, saying, Where is the prostitute who was on the road next to the two sources? And they said, There was no harlot in.
22 And he returned to Judah, and said, I have not found; and also said the men of that place; There was no harlot.
23 And Judah said, Take it to her, lest we come in contempt; behold, I sent this kid; but I do not flatten.
24 It happened about three months later, was told to Judah, saying, Tamar thy daughter in law, committed adultery, and behold, it is riddled with adultery. And Judah said, Bring her out to be burned.
25 And taking her out, she sent to her father in law: The man whose are these things I conceived. And she said more: You know, I pray thee, who is this seal, and these handkerchiefs, and this staff.
26 And he knew them Judah, and said more fair is she than I, because I have not given to Shelah my son. And he never met.
27 And it happened at the time to give birth, there were twins in her womb;
28 And it came, giving it the light, that one put out his hand, and the midwife took and bound upon his hand a scarlet thread, saying, This came out first.
29 But it came to pass, as he drew his hand, behold, his brother came out, and she said, How have you broken? About you is rupture. And they called his name Perez;
30 And after that came his brother, on whose hand was the scarlet thread; and they called his name Zerah.

3 E ela concebeu, e teve um filho, e chamou o seu nome Er;
4 E tornou a conceber, e teve um filho, e chamou o seu nome Onã;
27 E aconteceu, ao tempo de dar a luz, que havia gêmeos em seu ventre;
29 Mas aconteceu que, tornando ele a recolher a sua mão, eis que saiu seu irmão, e ela disse: Como tens tu rompido? Sobre ti é a rotura. E chamaram o seu nome Perez;
3 E ela concebeu, e teve um filho, e chamou o seu nome Er;
4 E tornou a conceber, e teve um filho, e chamou o seu nome Onã;

Genesis 37 Joseph is sold by his brothers
Genesis 37
Joseph is sold by his brothers
1 And Jacob dwelt in the land of his father's travels, in the land of Canaan.
2 These are the generations of Jacob, Joseph, being seventeen years old, he was feeding the flock with his brothers, and he was this young man with the children of Bilha, and with the sons of Zilpah wives of his father; and Joseph brought a bad name to their father.
3 Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his children, because he was the son of his old age; and it made him a coat of many colors.
4 Sell for his brothers that their father loved him more than all his brethren, they hated him, and could not speak peaceably unto him.
5 also dreamed a dream Joseph, who told his brothers; so the more bored.
6 And he said unto them, Hear, I pray you, this dream which I have dreamed:
7 Behold, we were binding sheaves in the field, and behold, my sheaf arose, and also stood upright; and behold, your sheaves stood round about, and made obeisance to my sheaf.
8 Then told his brothers, Yu as indeed reign over us? You indeed have dominion over us? so the more bored him for his dreams and for his words.
9 And he dreamed yet another dream, and told it to his brothers, and said, Behold, I have dreamed a dream, and behold, the sun and the moon, and eleven stars bowed down to me.
10 And he told it to his father and his brothers, scolded his father, and said unto him, What is this dream you dreamed? Perhaps we will come, I and thy mother and thy brethren, to bow down ourselves to thee to the earth?
11 And his brethren envied him: but his father observed this business in his heart.
12 And his brothers went to feed their father's flock in Shechem.
13 He said therefore to Joseph Israel: Do not feed your brothers in Shechem? Come and send thee to them. And he said, Here I am.
14 And he said unto him, Now go and see how are your brothers, and well with the flocks, and bring me word again. So he sent him from the valley of Hebron, and Joseph came to Shechem.
15 And found him a man, because he went astray by the field, and asked the man, saying, What you looking for?
16 And he said, I seek my brethren; tell me, I pray thee, where they feed.
17 And he said that man, They are here; for I heard them say, Let us go to Dothan. Joseph since followed his brothers and found them in Dothan.
18 And they saw him afar off, and before he came near unto them, they conspired against him to slay him.
19 And they said one to another, Behold, there comes the dreamer!
20 Come now, and let us slay him, and cast him into some pit, and we will say: An evil beast has devoured him; and we shall see what will become of his dreams.
21 And Reuben heard it, and delivered him out of their hands, and said, Let us not take his life.
22 And Reuben said to them, Shed no blood; cast him into this pit that is in the wilderness, and lay no hand in it; to deliver him from their hands, and to make it to his father.
23 And it came to pass, when Joseph to his brothers, Joseph took his coat, his coat of many colors that was on him.
24 And they took him, and cast him into a pit; and the pit was empty, there was no water in it.
25 Then they sat down to eat bread: and they lifted up their eyes and looked, and behold, a company of Ishmaelites coming from Gilead, and their camels bearing spices, and balm, and myrrh, and were going to take it to Egypt.
26 Then Judah said to his brothers, What profit is it that we slay our brother and conceal his blood?
27 Come, and we sell him to the Ishmaelites, and let not our hand on him, because he is our brother, our flesh. And his brethren.
Passing 28 as the Midianites merchants took and lifted up Joseph out of the pit, and sold him for twenty pieces of silver to the Ishmaelites, who brought Joseph into Egypt.
29 Making as Reuben will pit, behold, Joseph was not in the pit; then she tore her clothes,
30 And again his brothers, and said, The boy is not; and I, whither shall I go?
31 Then they took Joseph's coat, and killed a goat, and dipped the coat in the blood.
32 And they sent the coat of many colors, and they did take it to his father, and said, We have found this coat; You know now whether it will be or not the coat of his son.
33 And he knew it, and said, It is my son's coat; an evil beast hath devoured; Joseph was certainly shattered.
34 And Jacob rent his clothes, and put sackcloth upon his loins, and mourned for his son many days.
35 And they raised all his children and all his daughters to comfort; but he refused to be comforted, and said, Indeed with weeping I will go down to my son to the grave. So cried his father.
36 And the Midianites sold him into Egypt to Potiphar, a eunuch of Pharaoh, captain of the guard.

Vem, e enviar-te-ei a eles. E ele lhe disse: Eis-me aqui.
16 E ele disse: Procuro meus irmãos; dize-me, peço-te, onde eles apascentam.
19 E disseram uns aos outros: Eis lá vem o sonhador-mor!

23 Os filhos de Léia: Rúben, o primogênito de Jacó, depois Simeão e Levi, e Judá, e Issacar e Zebulom;

11 Disse-lhe mais Deus: Eu sou o Deus Todo-poderoso, frutifica e multiplica-te; uma nação e multidão de nações sairão de ti, e reis procederão dos teus lombos;

Genesis 35
God tells Jacob to Bethel to raise an altar
1 And God said unto Jacob, Arise, go up to Bethel, and dwell there; and make there an altar to the God who appeared to you when you fled before the face of Esau thy brother.
2 Jacob said to his family, and all who were with him, Put away the strange gods that are among you, and purify yourselves, and change your garments.
3 And let us arise, and go up to Bethel; and I will make there an altar to God, who answered me in the day of my distress, and was with me in the way which I went.
4 So they gave to Jacob all the strange gods which were in their hands, and the rings which were in their ears; and Jacob hid them under the oak which was by Shechem.
5 And they departed; and the terror of God was upon the cities that were around them, and did not pursue after the sons of Jacob.
6 So Jacob came to Luz, which is in the land of Canaan (that is, Bethel), he and all the people that were with him.
7 And he built there an altar, and called El-Bethel that place, because there God was revealed to him when he fled from the face of his brother.

Genesis 34
Dinah is deflowered
1 He left Dinah the daughter of Leah, whom she had borne to Jacob, see the daughters of the earth.
2 And Shechem the son of Hamor the Hivite, prince of the land saw her, and took her, and lay with her, and defiled her.
3 And clung to his soul to Dinah daughter of Jacob, and he loved the damsel, and spoke kindly unto the damsel.
4 spoke Shechem to Hamor his father, saying, Take me this wife.
5 When Jacob heard that he had defiled his daughter Dinah, were the children in the field with the cattle:; and Jacob was silent until they came.
6 And Hamor father of Shechem came out to Jacob, to speak to him.
7 And the sons of Jacob came from the field; and heard it, the men were grieved, and were angry too, for he had done folly in Israel by lying with Jacob's daughter; what you should not do so.
8 And Hamor spoke with them, saying, Shechem's soul my son's girlfriend your daughter; give it to you, I beg you to wife;
9 And marriages with us, give us your daughters and take our daughters to you;
10 And dwell with us; and the earth will stand before your face: dwell and Occupy it, and take possession it.
11 And Shechem said to her father, and her brother: Let me find favor in your eyes, and give what you say to me;
12 Aumentai lot about me dowry and gift, and I will do what you say to me; give me the damsel to wife.
13 Then the children of Jacob Shechem and Hamor his father deceitfully, and spoke, because he had defiled Dinah their sister.
14 And said to them, We can not do this, to give our sister to a man uncircumcised; because that would be a shame for us;
15 Then however we consent to you, if ye be as we, that circumcise every male among you;
16 Then we will give you our daughters, and take us your daughters, and dwell with you, and we will be a people;
17 But if we do not hear, and not be circumcised, we will take our daughter and go we will.
18 And their words were good in the eyes of Hamor, and in the eyes of Shechem, son of Hamor.
19 and was soon the young man to do this; because the daughter of Jacob aggravates him, and he was the most honored of all his father's house.
20 Hamor and Shechem came for his son at the door of their city, and spoke to the men of his city, saying:
21 These men are peaceable with us; therefore dwell in this land, and trade therein; behold, the land is wide space before his face: we will take their daughters for wives, and we will give you our daughters:
22 But only those men consent to dwell with us, to be one people, if every male among us be circumcised; as they are circumcised.
23 their cattle, their possessions and all their animals be ours? only let us consent unto them, and dwell with us.
24 And they listened to Hamor and Shechem his son all that went out of the gate; and it was circumcised every male, all that went out of the gate of his city.

6 And Hamor father of Shechem came out to Jacob, to speak to him.
7 And the sons of Jacob came from the field; and heard it, the men were grieved, and were angry too, for he had done folly in Israel by lying with Jacob's daughter; what you should not do so.
8 And Hamor spoke with them, saying, Shechem's soul my son's girlfriend your daughter; give it to you, I beg you to wife;
9 And marriages with us, give us your daughters and take our daughters to you;
10 And dwell with us; and the earth will stand before your face: dwell and Occupy it, and take possession it.
11 And Shechem said to her father, and her brother: Let me find favor in your eyes, and give what you say to me;
12 Aumentai lot about me dowry and gift, and I will do what you say to me; give me the damsel to wife.
13 Then the children of Jacob Shechem and Hamor his father deceitfully, and spoke, because he had defiled Dinah their sister.
14 And said to them, We can not do this, to give our sister to a man uncircumcised; because that would be a shame for us;
15 Then however we consent to you, if ye be as we, that circumcise every male among you;
16 Then we will give you our daughters, and take us your daughters, and dwell with you, and we will be a people;
17 But if we do not hear, and not be circumcised, we will take our daughter and go we will.

8 Então falou Hemor com eles, dizendo: A alma de Siquém meu filho está namorada da vossa filha; dai-lha, peço-vos, por mulher;
9 E aparentai-vos conosco, dai-nos as vossas filhas, e tomai as nossas filhas para vós;
10 E habitareis conosco; e a terra estará diante de vossa face: habitai e negociai nela, e tomai possessão nela.
11 E disse Siquém ao pai dela, e aos irmão dela: Ache eu graça em vossos olhos, e darei o que me disserdes;
14 E disseram-lhes: Não podemos fazer isso, que déssemos a nossa irmã a um varão não circuncidado; porque isso seria uma vergonha para nós;
15 Nisso porém consentimos a vós, se fordes como nós, que se circuncide todo o macho entre vós;
16 Então dar-vos-emos as nossas filhas, e tomaremos nós as vossas filhas, e habitaremos convosco, e seremos um povo;

Genesis 33 The meeting of Esau and Jacob
Genesis 33
The meeting of Esau and Jacob
1 And Jacob lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, Esau came, and four hundred men with him. Then divided the children between Leah and Rachel and the two maidservants.
2 And he put the handmaids and their children foremost, and Leah and her children after, and Rachel and Joseph hindermost.
3 And he passed over before them, and bowed to the earth seven times, until he came to his brother.
4 And Esau ran to meet him, and embraced him, and fell on his neck, and kissed him; and they wept.
5 And he lifted up his eyes, and saw the women and the children, and said, Who are these with you? And he said, The children that God has graciously given thy servant.
6 Then came the servants; they and their children, and bowed themselves.
7 And Leah also came with their children, and they bowed down; and then came Joseph and Rachel, and they bowed themselves.
8 And Esau said: Give serving you all this company that I met? And he said, To find favor in the sight of my lord.
9 And Esau said, I have enough, my brother; be to you what you have.
10 And Jacob said, No, if I have found favor in your eyes, I beseech you that ye take my gift from my hand because I have seen thy face, as if he had seen the face of God, and thou wast pleased with me.
11 Take, I pray thee, my blessing that is brought to thee; because God has graciously given; and because I have everything. And he urged him, and he took it.
12 And I said, we walk, and walk, and I will go before thee.
13 And he said unto him, My lord knows that the children are tender, and I have with me sheep and dairy cows; if men should overdrive them one day, all the flock will die.
14 Now my lord pass before the face of his servant; and I will guide how little by little, as the pace of the cattle that are before me and according to the pace of the children, until I come to my lord in Seir.
15 And Esau said, I will leave you soon these people who are with me. And he said, What is this? Let me find favor in the sight of my lord.
16 So Esau returned that day on his way to Seir.
17 Jacob but journeyed to Succoth and built himself a house; and made booths for his cattle: therefore he called the name of the place Succoth.

Genesis 32 Jacob passes over the ford Jabbok and fight with an angel
Genesis 32
Jacob passes over the ford Jabbok and fight with an angel
22 He got up that night and took his wives, and his two maidservants, and his eleven sons, and passed over the ford Jabbok.
23 And he took them, and sent them over the brook; and he sent over what he had.
24 Jacob was left alone however; and wrestled a man with him until the dawn ascended.
25 And seeing that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh, and the hollow of Jacob's thigh, fighting him.
26 And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me.
27 And he said unto him, What is thy name? And he said Jacob.
28 And he said no more be called thy name Jacob, but Israel; for you have striven with God and with men, and have prevailed.
29 And Jacob asked him, and said, Give me I pray thee, thy name. And I said, Why do you ask my name? And he blessed him there.
30 And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.
31 and goes out to you the sun when it came to Peniel; and he limped upon his thigh.
32 Therefore the children of Israel do not eat shrank, which is upon the hollow of the thigh, to this day; because he touched the hollow of Jacob's thigh in shrank.

26 E disse: Deixa-me ir, porque já a alva subiu. Porém ele disse: Não te deixarei ir, se me não abençoares.
27 E disse-lhe: Qual é o teu nome?
29 E Jacó lhe perguntou, e disse: Dá-me peço-te, a saber o teu nome.
30 E chamou Jacó o nome daquele lugar Peniel, porque dizia: Tenho visto a Deus face a face, e a minha alma foi salva.

Genesis 32 Jacob sent messengers to Esau
Genesis 32
Jacob sent messengers to Esau
3 And Jacob sent messengers before his face to Esau his brother, to the land of Seir, the country of Edom.
4 And he commanded them, saying, Thus shall ye say unto my lord Esau: Thus saith Jacob thy servant: I have sojourned with Laban, and stayed there until now;
5 And I have oxen, donkeys, sheep, and male and female servants; and I have sent to tell my lord, that I may find grace in thy sight.
6 And the messengers returned to Jacob, saying, We came to thy brother Esau; and also he comes to meet you, and four hundred men with him.
7 Then Jacob was greatly afraid and distressed-; and he divided the people that were with him, and the sheep, and cows, and the camels, into two camps.
8 For he said, If Esau comes a bunch, and the hurt, the other gang escape.
9 And Jacob said, God of my father Abraham, and God of my father Isaac, O Lord, you said to me: It shall thy land, and will thy kindred, and will make thee well;
10 Smaller am I all beneficiências, and all the truth you had with your servant; for with my staff I passed over this Jordan, and now I am become two bands.
11 Deliver me, I pray thee, from the hand of my brother, from the hand of Esau; for I fear him, lest he come and smite me, and the mother with the children.
12 And you said, I will surely do thee good, and make thy seed as the sand of the sea, the crowd can not tell.
13 And he lodged there that night; and he took of that came to his hand a present for his brother Esau:
14 Two hundred goats and twenty male goats; two hundred ewes, and twenty rams;
15 Thirty milch camels with their colts; forty cows, and ten bulls; twenty asses, and ten foals;
16 And he gave him the hand of his servants, each herd will part, and said to his servants, Pass over before my face, and put a space between drove and drove.
17 And he commanded the first saying, When Esau my brother find you, and ask you, saying, Whose art thou, and where goest thou, and whose are these before thee?
18 Then thou shalt say, They be thy servant Jacob's gift sent to my lord Esau; and, behold, also he is behind us.
19 And he commanded the second, and the third, and all that followed the droves, saying, On this same word, you shall speak to Esau, when ye find him.
20 And say ye moreover, Behold, thy servant Jacob is behind us, he said, I appease him with the gift that goes before me, and afterward I will see his face; perhaps accept my face.
21 So went the present before his face; But he spent that night in the camp.
