II Chronicles 04 The Altar and the Sea of Bronze

 II Chronicles 04

The Altar and the Sea of Bronze

He also made an altar of bronze, twenty cubits long, twenty cubits wide, and ten cubits high.

He also made the molten sea, ten cubits from brim to brim, round, and five cubits high; and a thirty-cubit cord was girded around it.

And under it were the likenesses of oxen, which girded it round about, and ten cubits round about the sea: and it had two rows of oxen, molten in their molten form.

It stood upon twelve oxen, three looking toward the north, and three looking toward the west, and three looking toward the south, and three looking toward the east; and the sea was set upon them, and their hinder parts were inward.

It was a span thick, and its brim was made like the brim of a cup, or like a fleur de lis, holding three thousand baths.

He also made ten lavers, and placed five on the right and five on the left, for people to wash in. They washed the burnt offering in them, but the sea was for the priests to wash in.

He also made ten candlesticks of gold, according to their shape, and put them in the temple, five on the right and five on the left.

He also made ten tables, and set them in the temple, five on the right and five on the left. He also made a hundred basins of gold.

He also made the court of the priests, and the great court, and the doors of the court, and overlaid their doors with bronze.

He put the sea on the right side, toward the east, toward the south.

Hiram also made the pots, shovels, and basins. Thus Hiram finished the work that he had done for King Solomon in the house of God:

the two pillars, the bowls, and the two capitals on the tops of the pillars, and the two networks to cover the two bowls of the capitals that were on the tops of the pillars.

And four hundred pomegranates for the two networks: two rows of pomegranates for each network, to cover the two bowls of the capitals that were on top of the pillars.

He also made the bases, and he put the lavers on the bases;

a sea, and the twelve oxen under it.

Likewise the pots, and the shovels, and the forks, and all their vessels, did Hiram Abihu make for King Solomon for the house of the Lord, of refined bronze.

The king cast them in the clay ground between Succoth and Zeredathah in the plain of the Jordan.

Solomon made all these vessels in great abundance, for the weight of the brass was beyond measure.

Solomon also made all the vessels for the house of God, including the altar of gold and the tables on which the bread of the Presence was set.

The lampstands and their lamps were of pure gold, to be lit before the oracle according to the custom.

The flowers, the lamps, and the snuffers were of gold, the finest gold.

The fleshhooks, the basins, the cups, and the censers were of pure gold. The entrance to the temple, its inner doors, the most holy place, and the doors of the temple, were of gold.
