II Chronicles 11
God forbids war against the ten tribes
So Rehoboam came to Jerusalem, and gathered together from the house of Judah and Benjamin one hundred and eighty thousand chosen men, skilled in war, to fight against Israel, and to restore the kingdom to Rehoboam.
But the word of the Lord came to Shemaiah the man of God, saying,
Speak to Rehoboam son of Solomon, king of Judah, and to all Israel in Judah and Benjamin, saying,
Thus says the Lord: You shall not go up nor fight against your brethren; return every man to his house; for this thing proceedeth from me. And they hearkened to the words of the Lord, and turned back from going against Jeroboam.
And Rehoboam dwelt in Jerusalem, and built cities fortified cities in Judah.
And he built Bethlehem, and Etam, and Tekoa,
And Beth-zur, and Socoh, and Adullam,
And Gath, and Mareshah, and Ziph,
And Adoraim, and Lachish, and Azekah,
And Zorah, and Aijalon, and Hebron, which were in Judah and Benjamin: fortified cities.
And he fortified these fortified cities, and put princes in them, and storehouses of food, and of oil, and of wine.
And he put bucklers and spears in every city; he fortified them greatly: and Judah and Benjamin belonged to him.
