II Chronicles 22
Ahaziah Reigns and is Killed by Jehu
Now the inhabitants of Jerusalem made Ahaziah his youngest son king in his place, because the army that came with the Arabians to the camp had killed all the older men. So Ahaziah the son of Joram king of Judah reigned.
He was forty-two years old when he began to reign, and he reigned one year in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Athaliah the daughter of Omri.
He also walked in the ways of the house of Ahab, for his mother was his counselor, to do wickedly.
And he did evil in the sight of the Lord, as the house of Ahab did, for they were his counselors after the death of his father, to his destruction.
He also followed his advice and went with Joram the son of Ahab king of Israel to fight against Hazael king of Syria at Ramoth-gilead, and the Syrians wounded Joram.
He was healed again in Jezreel of the wounds he had received at Ramah when he fought against Hazael king of Syria. Azariah the son of Joram, king of Judah, went down to see Joram the son of Ahab at Jezreel, because he was sick.
So it was from God that Ahaziah was discouraged, so that he would go to Joram. So he came and went with Joram against Jehu the son of Nimshi, whom the Lord had anointed to destroy the house of Ahab.
Now it came to pass, when Jehu executed judgment upon the house of Ahab, that he found the princes of Judah, and the sons of Ahaziah's brethren, that ministered unto Ahaziah, and slew them.
Then he sought Ahaziah: for he was hiding in Samaria; and they caught him, and brought him to Jehu, and slew him, and buried him: for they said, He is the son of Jehoshaphat, who sought the LORD with all his heart. And there was no man in the house of Ahaziah that was strong enough for the kingdom.
