II Chronicles 09 Solomon's Riches and Majesty

 II Chronicles 09

Solomon's Riches and Majesty

The weight of the gold that came to Solomon in one year was six hundred and sixty-six talents of gold,

Besides what the merchants and traders brought, all the kings of Arabia and the princes of the land brought gold and silver to Solomon.

Solomon also made two hundred bucklers of hammered gold; for each buckler he weighed six hundred shekels of hammered gold,

And three hundred shields of hammered gold; for each shield he weighed three hundred shekels of gold. And Solomon put them in the house of the forest of Lebanon.

The king also made a great throne of ivory, and overlaid it with pure gold.

And the throne had six steps, and a footstool of gold attached to the throne, and backrests on either side for the seat; and two lions stood by the backrests.

And there were twelve lions on the six steps, on the two sides; nothing like it was made in any kingdom.

And all the drinking vessels of King Solomon were of gold, and all the vessels of the house of the forest of Lebanon were of pure gold: silver was counted as nothing in the days of Solomon.

For when the king's ships went to Tarshish with the servants of Hiram, the ships returned from Tarshish once in three years, and brought gold and silver, ivory, apes, and peacocks.

So King Solomon surpassed all the kings of the earth in wealth and wisdom.

And all the kings of the earth sought to see the face of Solomon, that they might hear his wisdom, which God had put in his heart.

And they brought every man his gift, vessels of gold, and apparel, and armour, and spices, and horses, and mules, every year.

Solomon also had four thousand stalls of horses and chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen; and he stationed them in the chariot cities, and with the king in Jerusalem.

He ruled over all the kings from the River to the land of the Philistines, and to the border of Egypt.

The king also made silver in Jerusalem as abundant as stones, and cedars as abundant as the sycamore trees that are in the plains.

And they brought horses to Solomon from Egypt and from all those lands.
