II Chronicles 06
Solomon Blesses the People and Gives Thanks to the God of Israel
Then Solomon said, "The Lord said that He would dwell in the thick darkness.
And I have built you a house to dwell in, and a place for you to dwell forever."
Then the king turned his face and blessed the whole assembly of Israel, and the whole assembly of Israel stood.
And he said, "Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, who spoke with His mouth to David my father and has fulfilled it with His hands, saying,
Since the day that I brought My people out of the land of Egypt, I chose no city out of all the tribes of Israel to build a house in, that My Name might be there; nor did I choose any man to be ruler over My people Israel.
But I chose Jerusalem, that My Name might be there; and I chose David, that he might be over My people Israel.
It was in my father David's heart to build a house for the name of the Lord, the God of Israel.
But the Lord said to my father David, "Because it was in your heart to build a house for my name, you did well to have it in your heart.
Nevertheless, you shall not build the house; your son who will come from your loins will build the house for my name."
Thus the Lord has confirmed the word that he spoke, for I have risen up in the place of my father David and sat on the throne of Israel, as the Lord had said, and I have built the house for the name of the Lord, the God of Israel.
And I have put in it the ark, in which is the covenant that the Lord made with the children of Israel.
