II Kings 01
Fire from heaven consumes a hundred men
Then he sent a captain of fifty to him, and he went up to him (for he was sitting on the top of the mountain) and said to them, “Man of God, the king says, ‘Come down.’”
But Elijah answered and said to the captain of fifty, “If I am a man of God, let fire come down from heaven and consume you and your fifty.” Then fire came down from heaven and consumed him and his fifty.
Then he sent another captain of fifty with his fifty and spoke to him and said, “Man of God, thus says the king, ‘Come down quickly.’”
Then Elijah answered and said to him, “If I am a man of God, let fire come down from heaven and consume you and your fifty.” Then the fire of God came down from heaven and consumed him and his fifty.
And he sent again another captain of the third fifty with his fifty. Then the captain of fifty went up and came and fell on his knees before Elijah and begged him, and said to him, “Man of God, I pray thee, let my life and the life of these fifty thy servants be precious in thy sight.
And behold, fire came down from heaven, and consumed the first two captains of fifty, and their fifty: but now let my life be precious in thy sight.”
And the angel of the LORD said to Elijah, “Go down with him; fear not.” And he arose, and went down with him to the king.
And he said to him, Thus saith the LORD, Why have you sent messengers to inquire of Baal-zebub the god of Ekron? Is it because there is no God in Israel, to inquire of his word? Therefore from this bed whereon thou art gone up, thou shalt not come down, but shalt surely die.
17 So he died according to the word of the Lord which Elijah had spoken; and Joram began to reign in his place in the second year of Joram the son of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, for he had no son.
Now the rest of the acts of Ahaziah that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
