Kings 17
Elijah Preaches Against Ahab, and is Sustained by the Ravens
- Then Elijah the Tishbite, of the inhabitants of Gilead, said to Ahab, “As the Lord, the God of Israel, lives, before whom I stand, there will be neither dew nor rain these years, except according to my word.”
- Then the word of the Lord came to him, saying,
- “Go hence, and turn eastward, and hide yourself by the brook Cherith, which is before the Jordan.
- And it shall come to pass, that you shall drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed you there.”
- So he went and did according to the word of the Lord: for he went and dwelt by the brook Cherith, which is before the Jordan.
- And the ravens brought him bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening: and he drank of the brook.
- And it came to pass after some days, that the brook dried up, because there had been no rain in the land.
