Jezebel Orders Naboth's Death

8 Then she wrote letters in Ahab's name and sealed them with his seal. She sent the letters to the elders and nobles who were in his city who lived with Neroth.

9 And she wrote in the letters, saying, "Proclaim a fast and set Naboth over the people.

10 And set two men, sons of Belial, before him to testify against him, saying, 'You have blasphemed God and the king.' Then bring him out and stone him to death."

11 And the men of his city, the elders and the nobles who lived in his city, did as Jezebel had commanded them, as it was written in the letters that she sent to them.

12 They proclaimed a fast and set Naboth over the people.

13 Then two men, sons of Belial, came and stood before him; and the men, sons of Belial, testified against him, even against Naboth, before the people, saying, "Naboth blasphemed God and the king." So they took him outside the city and stoned him with stones, and he died.

14 Then they sent to Jezebel, saying, "Naboth has been stoned, and he is dead."

15 And it came to pass, when Jezebel heard that Naboth had been stoned, and was dead, that Jezebel said to Ahab, "Arise, take possession of the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite, which he refused to give you for money; for Naboth is not alive, but is dead."

16 And it came to pass, when Ahab heard that Naboth was dead, that Ahab arose to go down to the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite to take possession of it.
