I Chronicles 16
Thanksgiving and Songs of David
And he set some of the Levites before the ark of the Lord to minister, to remember, to praise, and to celebrate the Lord God of Israel.
Asaph was the chief, and next to him were Zechariah; Jeiel, and Shemiramoth, and Jeiel, and Mattithiah, and Eliab, and Benaiah, and Obed-edom, and Jeiel with psalteries and harps; and Asaph made himself heard with cymbals;
And Benaiah and Jahaziel, the priests, with trumpets continually before the ark of the covenant of God.
Then David delivered the following psalm that day, first, to praise the Lord, by the hand of Asaph and his brethren:
Praise the Lord, call upon his name, make known his deeds among the peoples.
Sing to him, sing praises to him, and speak of all his wonderful works.
Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice.
Seek the Lord and his strength; seek his face continually.
Remember his wonders that he has done, his miracles, and the judgments of his mouth.
O house of Israel, his servants, you sons of Jacob, his chosen ones.
He is the Lord our God; his judgments are in all the earth.
Remember his covenant forever, the word that he commanded for a thousand generations,
the covenant that he made with Abraham, and his oath to Isaac;
He confirmed this to Jacob as a statute, to Israel as an everlasting covenant,
saying, "To you I will give the land of Canaan, the portion of your inheritance."
Although you were few in number, few in number, and strangers in it,
they wandered from nation to nation, from one kingdom to another people.
He allowed no one to oppress them, and he rebuked kings for their sakes, saying,
"Do not touch my anointed ones, and do my prophets no harm."
Sing to the Lord, all the earth; proclaim his salvation from day to day.
Declare his glory among the nations, his wonders among all peoples.
For the Lord is great and greatly to be praised, and he is to be feared above all gods.
For all the gods of the nations are vanity, but the Lord made the heavens.
Majesty and splendor are before him; strength and joy are in his place.
Ascribe to the Lord, O families of the nations, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.
Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; bring gifts, and come before him; worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness.
Tremble before him, let all the earth tremble; for the world is established, that it may not be moved.
Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice; and let them say among the nations, The Lord reigns.
Let the sea roar with its fullness; let the field rejoice, and all that is in it.
Then the trees of the wood will sing for joy before the Lord, for he comes to judge the earth.
Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; for his lovingkindness endures forever.
And say, Save us, O God of our salvation, and gather us together, and deliver us from the nations; that we may give thanks to your holy name, and glory in your praise.
Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, forever and ever. And all the people said, Amen! And they gave thanks to the Lord.
Then he left Asaph and his brothers there before the ark of the covenant of the Lord, to minister continually before the ark, as was appointed for each day.
And Obed-Edom and his brothers, sixty-eight: whom he appointed Obed-Edom the son of Jeduthun, and Hosah, to be doorkeepers.
And Zadok the priest and his brethren the priests before the tabernacle of the LORD in the high place that was at Gibeon,
to offer burnt offerings to the LORD on the altar of burnt offering continually morning and evening, according to all that is written in the law which the LORD had commanded for Israel.
And with them were Heman and Jeduthun, and the chosen men who were mentioned by name, to praise the LORD, for his mercy endures forever.
And with them were Heman and Jeduthun, and trumpets and cymbals for those who gave them sound, and instruments of music of God; but the sons of Jeduthun stood at the gate.
Then all the people departed, each to his own house; and David returned to bless his house.
