Descendants of Levi, their ministry and their cities

54 And these were their dwellings, according to their castles, in their territory, namely, of the sons of Aaron, of the family of the Kohathites, for to them the lot fell.

55 So they gave them Hebron in the land of Judah, with its pasturelands that surround it.

56 But the territory of the city and its villages they gave to Caleb the son of Jephunneh.

57 And the sons of Aaron gave the cities of refuge: Hebron, and Libnah with its pasturelands, and Jattir, and Eshtemo with its pasturelands,

58 And Hilem with its pasturelands, and Debir with its pasturelands,

59 And Ashan with its pasturelands, and Beth-shemesh with its pasturelands.

60 And out of the tribe of Benjamin, Geba with its pasture lands, and Alemeth with its pasture lands, and Anathoth with its pasture lands: all these cities according to their families were thirteen cities. 

61 But the children of Kohath, who were left of the family of the tribe, of the half-tribe, half of Manasseh, had ten cities by lot.

 62 And the children of Gershon, according to their families, out of the tribe of Issachar, and out of the tribe of Asher, and out of the tribe of Naphtali, and out of the tribe of Manasseh in Bashan, had thirteen cities.

 63 The children of Merari, according to their families, out of the tribe of Reuben, and out of the tribe of Gad, and out of the tribe of Zebulun, had twelve cities by lot.

 64 So the children of Israel gave to the Levites these cities and their pasture lands.

 65 And they gave them by lot out of the tribe of the children of Judah, out of the tribe of the children of Simeon, and out of the tribe of the children of Benjamin, these cities, and they gave them their names.
