The Book of the Prophet Zechariah 8
Promised Blessings
Then the word of the Lord Almighty came to me:
This is what the Lord Almighty says: “I have been very jealous for Zion; I have been very angry with her.
This is what the Lord says: ‘I will return to Zion and live in Jerusalem. Then Jerusalem will be called the City of Truth, and the mountain of the Lord Almighty will be called the Holy Mountain.’
This is what the Lord Almighty says: ‘Old men and old women will again sit in the streets of Jerusalem, each with their staff in hand because of their advanced age.
The streets of the city will be full of boys and girls playing there.’
This is what the Lord Almighty says: ‘If this seems marvelous to the remnant of this people in those days, will it also seem marvelous to me?’ declares the Lord Almighty.
Thus says the Lord of hosts: Behold, I will save my people from the land of the east and from the land of the west;
And I will bring them, and they shall dwell in the midst of Jerusalem; and they shall be my people, and I will be their God in truth and in righteousness.
Thus says the Lord of hosts: Let your hands be strong, all of you who in these days have heard these words from the mouth of the prophets who were there on the day that the foundation of the house of the Lord of hosts was laid, that the temple might be built.
For before these days there was no hire of men or hire of beasts; neither was there peace for him who came in nor for him who went out, because of the enemy; for I stirred up all men, every one against his neighbor.
But now I will not be to the remnant of this people as in the former days, says the Lord of hosts.
For the seed will prosper, the vine will yield its fruit, the ground will produce its crops, and the heavens will give their dew; and I will cause the remnant of this people to inherit all these things.
And it shall come to pass, O house of Judah and O house of Israel, that as you were a curse among the nations, so I will save you, and you shall be a blessing: do not fear, let your hands be strong.
For thus says the Lord of hosts: Just as I thought to do you harm, when your fathers provoked me to anger, says the Lord of hosts, and I did not repent,
so I have again thought to do good to Jerusalem and to the house of Judah in these days: do not fear.
These are the things you must do: Speak the truth, each one with his neighbor; execute true and peaceful judgment in your gates;
And let none of you devise evil in your heart against his neighbor, nor love a false oath; for all these things I hate, says the Lord.
Then the word of the Lord of hosts came to me, saying:
Thus says the Lord of hosts: The fast of the fourth month, and the fast of the fifth, and the fast of the seventh, and the fast of the tenth month shall be to the house of Judah joy and gladness and solemn feasts; therefore love truth and peace.
Thus says the Lord of hosts: It shall yet come to pass that peoples and inhabitants of many cities shall come;
And the inhabitants of one city shall go to another, saying, “Let us go at once to entreat the favor of the Lord, and to seek the Lord of hosts; I also will go.”
So shall many peoples and mighty nations come to seek the Lord of hosts in Jerusalem, and to entreat the favor of the Lord.
This is what the Lord Almighty says: “In those days ten men from all languages and nations will take hold of one Jew by the hem of his garment and say, ‘Let us go with you, because we have heard that God is with you.’
