The Book of the Prophet Micah 3
Threats Against Leaders and False Prophets
Then I said: “Hear now, you leaders of Jacob, and you princes of the house of Israel: Is it not for you to know justice?
You who hate good and love evil, who tear the skin from people and the flesh from their bones,
who eat the flesh of my people and strip off their skin, and break their bones in pieces, and divide them up like meat for the pot, like flesh in the cauldron.
Then they will cry out to the Lord, but he will not listen to them; he will hide his face from them at that time, because they have done evil in their deeds.
This is what the Lord says concerning the prophets who lead my people astray, who bite with their teeth and cry, ‘Peace!’ but prepare war against him who puts nothing in their mouths.”
Therefore, night will come upon you, so that there will be no prophecy, and darkness, so that there will be no divination; the sun will set on those prophets, and the day will grow dark over them.
The seers will be put to shame, and the diviners will be confounded; they will all cover their lips, because there will be no answer from God.
But I am full of power, with the Spirit of the Lord, and full of judgment and courage, to declare to Jacob his transgression and to Israel his sin.
Hear this, you leaders of the house of Jacob, you rulers of the house of Israel, who despise justice and pervert all that is right.
Building Zion with bloodshed and Jerusalem with injustice.
Her leaders judge for bribes, her priests teach for a price, and her prophets tell fortunes for money; And yet they lean on the Lord, saying, “Is not the Lord among us? No evil will befall us.”
Therefore, because of you, Zion will be plowed like a field, and Jerusalem will become heaps of ruins, and the mountain of this house will become the high places of a forest.
