13 And when they had departed, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream, saying, “Arise, take the young child and his mother, and flee to Egypt, and remain there until I tell you; for Herod is about to search for the young child to destroy him.”

14 And he arose and took the young child and his mother by night and departed to Egypt.

15 And he remained there until the death of Herod, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, “Out of Egypt I called my Son.”

16 Then Herod, when he saw that he was deceived by the wise men, was exceedingly angry; and he sent forth and slew all the male children that were born in Bethlehem and in all its districts, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently inquired of the wise men.

17 Then what was spoken by the prophet Jeremiah was fulfilled:

18 “A voice was heard in Ramah, lamentation, weeping, and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children and refusing to be comforted, because they are no more.”

7 Then Herod, having secretly called the wise men, inquired of them diligently what time the star had appeared.

8 And he sent them to Bethlehem, and said, “Go and search diligently for the young child; and when you have found him, bring me word again, that I may come and worship him also.”

9 And when they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was.

10 And when they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy.

11 And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh.

19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not wanting to make her a public example, intended to put her away secretly.

20 But while he considered these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit.

21 And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.”

22 All this took place that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying:

23 “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which being interpreted is, “God with us.”

24 When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife.

25 But he did not consummate their marriage until she gave birth to a son, and he gave him the name Jesus.

7 “From the days of your fathers you have turned aside from my statutes and have not kept them. Return to me, and I will return to you,” says the Lord of hosts. “But you say, ‘How shall we return?’

8 Will a man rob God? Yet you rob me. But you say, ‘How have we robbed you?’ In tithes and offerings.

9 You are cursed with a curse, for you are robbing me, the whole nation of you.

10 Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord of hosts, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.”

11 And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, so that it will not destroy the fruits of your ground, and the vine in the field will not fail to bear fruit for you, says the Lord of hosts.

12 And all nations will call you blessed, for you will be a delightful land, says the Lord of hosts.

13 Your words have been harsh against me, says the Lord; but you say, “What have we spoken against you?”

14 You say, “It is useless to serve God; what profit has it we have kept his precepts, and walked mournfully before the Lord of hosts?”

15 Now therefore, we consider the proud to be blessed; those who commit wickedness are also built up; yes, they test the Lord, and escape.

16 Then those who fear the Lord speak to one another; and the Lord listens and hears; And a book of remembrance is written before him for those who fear the Lord and who meditate on his name.

17 “They will be mine,” declares the Lord Almighty, “on the day when I make up my treasured possession. I will spare them, just as a father has compassion on his son who serves him.”

18 “Then you will again see the difference between the righteous and the wicked, between those who serve God and those who do not.”

14 And you say, “Why?” Because the Lord was witness between you and the wife of your youth, with whom you have been faithless, though she is your companion and your wife by covenant.

15 And did he not make them one, having a remnant of the Spirit? And why one? He sought godly offspring. Therefore take heed to your spirit, and let none deal treacherously with the wife of his youth.

16 For the Lord God of Israel says that he hates divorce, and him who covers his garment with violence, says the Lord of hosts. Therefore take heed to your spirit, and do not deal treacherously.

2 “I have loved you,” says the Lord. “But you say, ‘How have you loved us?’ Was not Esau Jacob’s brother?” declares the Lord. “Yet I have loved Jacob.

3 But I hated Esau and made his mountains a desolation and left his inheritance to the desert dragons.

4 Though Edom says, ‘We are poor, but we will rebuild the desolate places,’ thus says the Lord of hosts: ‘They may build, but I will destroy; and they shall be called the Territory of Wickedness, and the people against whom the Lord is angry forever.’

5 And your eyes shall see, and you shall say, ‘The Lord be magnified from the borders of Israel!’

6 A son shall honor his father, and a servant his master; And if I am the Father, where is my honor? And if I am the Lord, where is my fear? says the Lord of hosts to you, O priests, who despise my name and say, “In what way have we despised your name?”

7 You offer defiled bread on my altar, and you say, “In what way have we defiled you?” By saying, “The table of the Lord is contemptible.”

8 For when you bring a blind animal to sacrifice, is that not wrong? And when you offer a lame or diseased animal, is that not wrong? Try presenting it to your ruler! Will he be pleased with you? Or will he accept your person? says the Lord of hosts.

9 Now therefore, plead with God for mercy, and he will have pity on us; for this has come from your hand; will he accept your person? says the Lord of hosts.

10 Who among you will shut the doors and not kindle fire on my altar in vain? I have no pleasure in you, says the Lord of hosts, nor will I accept an offering from your hand.

11 But from the rising of the sun to its setting my name will be great among the nations; and in every place incense will be offered to my name, and a pure offering; for my name will be great among the nations, says the Lord of hosts.

12 But you profane it when you say, “The table of the Lord is defiled, and its fruit, its food, is contemptible.”

13 And you say, “What a weariness!” And you have despised it, says the Lord of hosts. “You offer what has been stolen, and the lame and the sick. This is how you offer this: will I accept it from your hand?” says the Lord.

14 Cursed be the deceiver who, having a beast in his flock, vows and offers to the Lord a vile thing; for I am a great King, says the Lord of hosts, and my name will be feared among the nations.

A ingratidão do povo; o formalismo dos sacerdotes

 

1 Peso da palavra do Senhor contra Israel, pelo ministério de Malaquias.

2 Eu vos amei, diz o Senhor; mas vós dizeis: Em que nos amaste? Não foi Esaú irmão de Jacó? Disse o Senhor; todavia amei a Jacó.

3 E aborreci a Esaú; e fiz dos seus montes uma assolação, e dei a sua herança aos dragões do deserto.

4 Ainda que Edom diga: Empobrecidos somos, porém tornaremos a edificar os lugares desertos, assim diz o Senhor dos Exércitos: Eles edificarão, e eu destruirei: e lhes chamarão Termo de impiedade, e povo contra quem o Senhor está irado para sempre.

5 E os vossos olhos verão, e direis: O Senhor seja engrandecido desde os termos de Israel.

6 O filho honrará o pai, e o servo ao seu senhor; e, se eu sou o Pai, onde está a minha honra? E, se eu sou o Senhor onde está o meu temor? Diz o Senhor dos Exércitos a vós, ó sacerdotes, que desprezais o meu nome e dissestes: Em que desprezamos nós o teu nome?

7 Ofereceis sobre o meu altar pão imundo, e dizeis: Em que te havemos profanado? Nisto que dizeis: A mesa do Senhor é desprezível.

8 Porque, quando trazeis animal cego para o sacrificardes, não faz mal! E, quando ofereceis o coxo ou o enfermo, não faz mal! Ora apresenta-o ao teu príncipe: terá ele agrado em ti? Ou aceitará ele a tua pessoa? Diz o Senhor dos Exércitos.

9 Agora pois, suplicai o favor de Deus, e ele terá piedade de nós: nisto veio da vossa mão; aceitará ele a vossa pessoa? Diz o Senhor dos Exércitos.

10 Quem há também entre vós que feche as portas e não acenda debalde o fogo do meu altar? Eu não tenho prazer em vós, diz o Senhor dos Exércitos, nem aceitarei da vossa mão a oblação.

11 Mas desde o nascente do sol até ao poente será grande entre as nações o meu nome; e em todo o lugar se oferecerá ao meu nome incenso e uma oblação pura; porque o meu nome será grande entre as nações, diz o Senhor dos Exércitos.

12 Mas vós o profanais, quando dizeis: A mesa do Senhor é impura, e o seu produto, a sua comida, é desprezível.

13 E dizeis: Eis aqui, que canseira! E o lançastes ao desprezo, diz o Senhor dos Exércitos: vós oferecereis o roubado, e o coxo e o enfermo; assim fazeis a oferta: ser-me-á aceito isto de vossa mão? Diz o Senhor.

14 Por maldito seja o enganador que, tendo animal no seu rebanho, promete e oferece ao Senhor uma coisa vil; porque eu sou grande Rei, diz o Senhor dos Exércitos, o meu nome será tremendo entre as nações.
