 The Book of the Prophet Zechariah 10

Promises Made to Israel

1 Ask the Lord for rain in the time of the latter rain; the Lord, who makes the lightning, will give them showers of rain, and grass in the field to everyone.

2 For the teraphim have spoken vanity, and the diviners have seen lies and described vain dreams; with vanity they comfort: therefore they go like sheep, they are afflicted, because there is no shepherd.

3 My anger is kindled against the shepherds, and I will punish the goats; but the Lord of Hosts will visit his flock, the house of Judah, and will make them like his majestic one in battle.

4 From him the cornerstone, from him the tent peg, from him the battle bow; from him together shall come forth all the tax collectors.

5 And they shall be like mighty men who go through the mud of the streets into battle, crushing the enemy; for the Lord will be with them, and they shall put to shame those who ride on horses. 

6 I will strengthen the house of Judah and save the house of Joseph; I will replant them, for I have compassion on them. They shall be as though I had not rejected them, for I am the Lord their God, and I will hear them.

7 Ephraim shall be like a mighty warrior; their hearts shall rejoice as with wine. Their children shall see it and be glad; their hearts shall exult in the Lord.

8 I will whistle for them and gather them together, for I have redeemed them, and they shall multiply as they had multiplied.

9 I will sow them among the nations, and they shall remember me in distant places. They and their children shall live and return.

10 For I will bring them back from the land of Egypt and gather them from Assyria; I will bring them to the land of Gilead and Lebanon, where no place will be found for them.

11 He will pass through the sea, and all the depths of the rivers will dry up; then the pride of Assyria will be brought down, and the scepter of Egypt will depart.

12 And I will strengthen them in the Lord, and they will walk in his name, declares the Lord.
