Psalms 07
David Trusts in God and Protests His Innocence
O Lord my God, I trust in you; save me from all who persecute me, and deliver me;
Lest he tear my soul like a lion, tearing it to pieces, with no one to rescue.
O Lord my God, if I have done this, if there is iniquity in my hands,
If I have repaid evil to him who was at peace with me (I have rescued him who oppressed me without cause),
Let the enemy pursue my soul and overtake it; let him trample my life under his feet upon the ground, and bring my glory to dust.
Arise, O Lord, in your anger; exalt yourself because of the wrath of my oppressors; and awake for me to the judgment that you have commanded.
So the assembly of the peoples will surround you; for their sake you will return on high.
The Lord will judge the peoples; judge me, O Lord, according to my righteousness and according to my integrity.
Let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end, but establish the righteous; for you, O righteous God, test the hearts and minds.
My shield is with God, who saves the upright in heart.
God is a righteous judge, a God who is angry every day.
If a man does not repent, God will sharpen his sword; he has bent his bow and made it ready;
He has prepared weapons of death for him; he will send forth his flaming arrows against his persecutors.
Behold, he is in agony from iniquity; he has conceived mischief, and will bring forth lies.
He has dug a pit and made it deep, and has fallen into the pit he made.
His work will return on his own head; and his violence will descend upon his brain.
I will praise the Lord according to his righteousness, and I will sing praises to the name of the Lord Most High.
