Psalms 09
Thanksgiving for a Great Deliverance
I will praise you, O Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful works.
I will be glad and rejoice in you; I will sing praises to your name, O Most High.
For my enemies are turned back and fallen; they perish before you.
For you have upheld my right and my cause; you sit in judgment, judging righteously.
You have rebuked the nations; you have destroyed the wicked; you have blotted out their name forever and ever.
O enemy, the desolations are complete; you have laid waste the cities, and their memory has perished with them.
But the Lord sits enthroned forever; he has prepared his judgment seat for judgment.
He himself will judge the world with righteousness; he will judge the peoples with equity.
The Lord will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble.
Those who know your name will trust in you, for you, O Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you.
Sing praises to the Lord, who dwells in Zion; declare his deeds among the peoples.
For he inquires about bloodshed, and remembers it; he does not forget the cry of the afflicted.
Have mercy on me, O Lord, and see how those who hate me bring me to grief, you who lift me up from the gates of death.
That I may declare all your praise in the gates of the daughter of Zion, and rejoice in your salvation.
The nations have fallen into the pit they dug; their foot is caught in the net they hid.
The Lord is known by the judgment he executes; the wicked is snared by his own doings. 17 The wicked will be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.
For the needy will not always be forgotten, nor will the expectation of the poor perish forever.
Arise, O Lord; let not man prevail; let the nations be judged before you.
Put us in fear, O Lord, that the nations may know that they are but men.
