Psalms 12
The Falsehood of Man and the Truthfulness of God
Save us, O Lord, for men speak kindly; for the faithful are few among the sons of men.
Every man speaks falsely to his neighbor; they speak with flattering lips and a double heart.
The Lord will cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that speaks proudly.
For they say, "With our tongue we will prevail; our lips are ours: who is the Lord over us?"
Because of the oppression of the poor, and the sighing of the needy, I will now arise, says the Lord; I will rescue him on whom they breathe.
The words of the Lord are pure words, like silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.
You will preserve them, O Lord; you will deliver them from this generation forever.
The wicked go about on every side, when the vilest of the sons of men are exalted.
