Psalms 04
David prays to God in his distress
Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness; in my distress you have given me relief; be gracious to me and hear my prayer.
O sons of men, how long will you turn my glory into dishonor? How long will you love vanity and seek after lies?
Know therefore that the Lord has set apart for himself those who are dear to him; the Lord will hear when I cry to him.
Be troubled, and do not sin; speak with your heart upon your bed, and be silent.
Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and trust in the Lord.
Many say, "Who will show us any good?" O Lord, lift up the light of your countenance upon us.
You have put gladness in my heart, more than in the time when their grain and their wine increased.
I will both lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.
