Job 37
Man should fear God because he knows the works of God and his wisdom.
My heart trembles at this and leaps from its place.
I have listened diligently to the movement of his voice, and to the sound that comes from his mouth.
He sends it under the whole heaven, and his light to the ends of the earth.
After this he roars with a loud voice, he thunders with a loud voice; and when his voice is heard, he does not delay.
God thunders marvelously with his voice; he does great things, which we do not understand.
For he says to the snow, "Fall to the earth," as he does to the downpour and its torrential rain.
He seals up the hands of every man, that all men may know his work.
And the beasts go into their hiding places and stay in their caves.
A wind blows from the chambers of the south, and cold from the north.
By the breath of God frost is given, and the broad waters are hardened.
He also carries away the thick clouds with moisture, and scatters the cloud of his light.
Then it spreads itself out according to his wise counsel, that it may do all that he commands it on the face of the inhabited world.
Whether for correction, or for his land, or for goodness, let him bring it.
Incline your ear to this, O Job; listen, and consider the wondrous works of God.
Do you know how God works, and makes his cloud shine?
Do you know the balancing of the thick clouds, the wondrous works of him who is perfect in knowledge?
Or how your garments are warm when there is calmness in the south on the earth?
Or did you stretch out with him the heavens, which are firm as a molten mirror?
Teach us what we shall say to him, for we cannot set them in order because of the darkness.
Will anyone tell him what I have said? Or would a man wish that he were swallowed up?
And now the sun cannot be seen, that shines in the heavens; but the wind passes and purifies them,
Golden splendor comes from the north; for there is awesome majesty in God.
We cannot approach the Almighty; he is great in power, yet he oppresses no one in justice and greatness of righteousness.
Therefore men fear him; he does not respect those who are wise in heart.
