Bildad refutes Job's words and vindicates God

1 Then Bildad the Shuhite answered and said:

2 How long will you speak such things, and the words of your mouth be like a mighty wind?

3 Will God pervert justice, and the Almighty pervert justice?

4 If your children have sinned against him, he has also delivered them into the hand of their transgression.

5 But if you seek God early in the morning, and make supplication to the Almighty for mercy,

6 If you are pure and upright, surely he will quickly awake for you, and restore the habitation of your righteousness.

7 Your beginning indeed was small, but your latter end will increase greatly.

8 For I pray you, inquire now of the former generations, and prepare yourself for the inquiry of their fathers.

9 For we are of yesterday, and know nothing; for our days upon earth are as a shadow.

10 Will they not instruct you, and speak to you, and give you reason out of their own heart?

11 Can a reed grow without mud? Or does a reed grow in water?

12 While it is still green, and not cut down, it withers before any other herb.

13 Such are the paths of all who forget God; and the hope of the hypocrite will perish.

14 Their hope is cut off, and their confidence is like a spider's web.

15 He leans against his house, but it cannot stand; he supports it, but it cannot stand.

16 It is moist before the sun rises, and its shoots go forth over its garden;

17 Its roots are entwined by the spring, and it looks out on the stony ground. 

18 When he disappears in his place, he will deny him, saying, "I never saw you."

19 Behold, this one is the joy of his journey, and others will spring up out of the dust.

20 Behold, God will not cast away the upright, nor take hold of evildoers by the hand;

21 Until your mouth is filled with laughter, and your lips with praise.

22 Your haters will be clothed with shame, and the tent of the wicked will be no more.
