Job 04
Eliphaz Rebukes Job
Then Eliphaz the Temanite answered and said,
If we try to speak to you, will you be weary? But who can refrain from speaking?
Behold, you have taught many, and have strengthened the feeble hands.
Your words have lifted up those who were stumbling, and you have strengthened the feeble knees.
But now it comes to you, and you are weary; and when it touches you, you are troubled.
Was not your fear of God your confidence, and the integrity of your ways your hope?
Remember now, who is the innocent who has ever perished? And where have the upright been destroyed?
As I have seen, those who plow iniquity and sow trouble reap the same.
By the breath of God they perish; and by the blast of his anger they are consumed.
The roaring of the lion, and the voice of the fierce lion, and the teeth of the young lions are broken.
The old lion perishes because there is no prey, and the young lionesses are scattered.
A word was spoken to me in secret; my ears perceived a whisper of it.
In thoughts of visions of the night, when deep sleep falls upon men,
Fear and trembling came upon me, and all my bones shook.
Then a spirit passed before me; the hair of my flesh stood on end;
It stood still, but I did not recognize its form; a form stood before my eyes; and when I was silent, I heard a voice saying,
Is a man more righteous than God? Is a man purer than his Maker?
Behold, he puts no trust in his servants, and finds folly in his angels;
How much less those who dwell in houses of clay, whose foundation is in the dust, who are crushed like a moth!
From morning to evening they are torn to pieces; they perish forever, and no one cares.
Does not their excellence pass away with them? They die, but without wisdom.
