Psalms 80 The prophet pleads with God to save his vineyard from those who would destroy it

 Psalms 80

The prophet pleads with God to save his vineyard from those who would destroy it

Give ear, O Shepherd of Israel; you who lead Joseph like a flock, who dwell between the cherubim, shine forth.

Awaken your strength before Ephraim, Benjamin, and Manasseh, and come to save us.

Turn us back, O God; make your face shine, and we will be saved.

O Lord God of hosts, how long will you be angry with the prayer of your people?

You feed them with the bread of tears, and give them tears to drink in abundance.

You make us a byword among our neighbors, and our enemies taunt us among themselves.

Turn us back, O God of hosts; make your face shine, and we will be saved.

You brought a vineyard out of Egypt; you drove out the nations and planted it.

You prepared a place for it and caused it to take root, and it filled the earth.

The mountains were covered with its shade, and its branches were like the cedars of God.

It spread out its boughs to the sea, and its branches to the River.

Why then have you broken down its hedges, so that all who pass by gather its grapes?

The wild boar from the forest destroys it, and the wild beasts of the field devour it.

O God of hosts, turn back, we beseech you; look down from heaven, and see, and visit this vineyard;

And the vine that your right hand planted, and the branch that you made strong for yourself.

It is burned with fire, it is cut down; he perished at the rebuke of your face.

Let your hand be upon the man at your right hand, upon the son of man whom you made strong for yourself.

So we will not go after you; keep us alive, that we may call upon your name.

Turn us back, O Lord God of hosts; let your face shine, and we will be saved.
