Psalms 94
A Plea for God's Justice Against Evildoers
O Lord, God, to whom vengeance belongs, O God, to whom vengeance belongs, shine forth.
Lift up thyself, O judge of the earth: render recompense to the proud.
How long, O Lord, how long will the wicked rejoice?
How long will they utter and speak hard things, and all the workers of iniquity boast?
They have cut down thy people, and afflicted thine inheritance.
They have slain the widow and the stranger, and slain the fatherless.
They have said, The Lord will not see; the God of Jacob will not regard this.
Pay attention, you brutal men among the people; and you fools, when will you be wise?
He who made the ear, shall he not hear? And he who formed the eye, shall he not see?
He who reproves the people, shall he not punish? And he who gives man knowledge, shall he not know?
The Lord knows the thoughts of man, that they are vanity.
Blessed is the man whom you rebuke, O Lord, and whom you teach out of your law;
That you may give him rest from days of trouble, until the pit is dug for the wicked.
For the Lord will not cast off his people, nor forsake his inheritance.
But judgment will return to righteousness, and all the upright in heart will follow it.
Who will be for me against the evildoers? Who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity?
Unless the Lord had been my help, my soul would have dwelt in silence.
When I said, "My foot slips," your lovingkindness, O Lord, held me up.
When my anxiety was multiplied within me, your comforts refreshed my soul.
Should the throne of iniquity have fellowship with you, which devises mischief under the law?
They rush upon the life of the righteous, and condemn innocent blood.
But the Lord has been my refuge, and my God the rock in which I have taken refuge.
He will bring their iniquity upon them; he will destroy them in their own wickedness; the Lord our God will destroy them.
