Psalms 116
Love and gratitude to God for his salvation
I love the Lord, because he has heard my voice and my supplication.
Because he has inclined his ear to me; therefore I will call on him as long as I live.
The cords of death have encompassed me, and the pangs of hell have taken hold of me; I have found distress and sorrow.
Then I called on the name of the Lord, saying, “O Lord, deliver my soul.”
The Lord is gracious and righteous; our God has mercy.
The Lord preserves the simple; I was brought low, and he rescued me.
Return to your rest, my soul, for the Lord has dealt bountifully with you.
For you, Lord, have delivered my soul from death, my eyes from tears, and my feet from falling.
I will walk before the Lord in the land of the living.
I believed, therefore I spoke; I was greatly distressed.
I said in my haste, "Every man is a lie."
What shall I render to the Lord for all his benefits to me?
I will take the cup of salvation, and I will call on the name of the Lord.
I will now pay my vows to the Lord in the presence of all his people.
Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.
Surely I am your servant, O Lord; I am your servant, the son of your handmaid; you have loosed my bonds.
I will sacrifice thanksgiving to you, and call on the name of the Lord.
I will pay my vows to the Lord: may I do so in the presence of all my people.
In the courts of the house of the Lord, in your midst, O Jerusalem, praise the Lord.
