Psalms 97
The Majesty of God's Kingdom: The Punishment of the Wicked: An Exhortation to Piety and Rejoicing
The Lord reigns; let the earth rejoice; let the many islands be glad.
Clouds and darkness are around him; righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne.
A fire goes before him; it burns up his enemies on every side.
His lightnings give light to the world; the earth saw and trembled.
The mountains melt like wax at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the Lord of all the earth.
The heavens declare his righteousness, and all the peoples see his glory.
Let all who serve carved images be put to shame, who boast of worthless idols; bow down before him, all you gods.
Zion heard and was glad; and the children of Judah rejoiced because of your righteousness, O Lord.
For you, O Lord, are the Most High over all the earth, far above all gods.
You who love the Lord, hate evil; he preserves the souls of his saints; he delivers them from the hand of the wicked.
Light is sown for the righteous, and gladness for the upright in heart.
Rejoice in the Lord, O righteous, and give thanks in remembrance of his holiness.
