Psalms 68
A Song of Praise and Thanksgiving to God as Our Savior
Let God arise, let his enemies be scattered; those who hate him will flee before him.
As smoke is driven away, so you drive them away; as wax melts before the fire, so let the wicked perish before God.
But let the righteous be glad and rejoice before God, and be glad for joy.
Sing to God, sing praises to his name; praise him who rides on the heavens, for his name is JAH; rejoice before him.
A father to the fatherless and a judge for widows is God in his holy place.
God sets the solitary in families; he frees those who are bound in chains, but the rebellious dwell in a dry land.
O God, when you went out before your people, when you walked through the wilderness,
The earth shook, the heavens dropped at the presence of God; Sinai itself trembled at the presence of God, the God of Israel.
You, O God, sent abundant rain; you refreshed your inheritance when it was weary.
Your flock dwelt there; you, O God, provided for the poor with your steadfast love.
The Lord gave the word; great was the army of those who brought good news.
Kings of armies fled in haste; and she who remained at home divided the spoil.
Though you lie down in the sheepfolds, you shall be like the wings of a dove covered with silver, with her feathers of yellow gold.
When the Almighty scattered kings there, it was as when snow falls on Salmon.
The mountain of God is like Mount Bashan, a high mountain like Mount Bashan.
Why do you leap, O high mountain? This is the mountain that God desired for His dwelling, and the Lord will dwell there forever.
The chariots of God are twenty thousand, thousands upon thousands. The Lord is among them, like Sinai, in the holy place.
You ascended on high, you led captivity captive, you received gifts for men, even for the rebellious, that the Lord God might dwell among them.
Blessed be the Lord, who daily heaps up benefits upon us, the God of our salvation.
Our God is the God of salvation; and to the Lord, the Lord, belong the escapes from death.
But God will severely strike the head of his enemies, and the hairy scalp of him who walks in his guilt.
The Lord said, I will bring them back from Bashan; I will bring my people back from the depths of the sea;
So that your foot may be dipped in the blood of your enemies, and your dogs' tongues may be dipped in it.
O God, they have seen your ways, the ways of my God, my King, in the sanctuary.
The singers went before, the players on instruments behind; among them the maidens playing timbrels.
Praise God in the congregations, the Lord from the fountain of Israel.
There is little Benjamin, ruling over them, the princes of Judah as their assembly, the princes of Zebulun and the princes of Naphtali.
Your God has commanded your strength: confirm, O God, what you have done for us.
For the sake of your temple in Jerusalem, kings will bring gifts to you.
Rebuke the beasts of the reeds, the multitude of bulls, with the calves of the peoples, trampling their silver pieces underfoot; scatter the peoples who desire war.
Royal ambassadors will come from Egypt; Ethiopia will quickly stretch out her hands to God.
Sing to God, you kingdoms of the earth, sing praises to the Lord,
He who rides on the heavens of heavens from of old; behold, he sends out his voice, he shouts aloud.
Give strength to God; his majesty is over Israel, his strength in the clouds.
O God, you are awesome from your sanctuaries; the God of Israel gives strength and power to his people. Blessed be God!
