Psalms 60
Thanksgiving for Various Victories
O God, you have rejected us, you have scattered us, you have been angry; oh, turn to us.
You have shaken the earth and split it; heal its cracks, for it trembles.
You have shown your people hard things; you have made us drink the wine of trouble.
You have given a standard to those who fear you, that they may set it up on high for the truth's sake.
That your beloved may be delivered, save us with your right hand, and answer us.
God has said in his holiness: I will rejoice, I will divide Shechem and measure out the valley of Succoth.
Gilead is mine, and Manasseh is mine; Ephraim is the strength of my head; Judah is my lawgiver.
Moab is my washpot; I will cast my shoe over Edom; rejoice, O Palestine, because of me.
Who will bring me to the strong city? Who will guide me to Edom?
Is it not you, O God, who rejected us? You, O God, who did not go out with our armies?
Help us in trouble, for the help of man is vain.
Through God we will do valiantly, for he will tread down our enemies.
