Psalms 58
David rebukes the wicked. God will punish them and save the righteous
Do you indeed speak justice, O congregation? Do you judge righteously, O sons of men?
But in your hearts you devise iniquity; you make the violence of your hands heavy on the earth.
The wicked are estranged from the womb; they go astray from birth, uttering lies.
Their poison is like the poison of a serpent; they are like a deaf adder that has stopped its ears,
So that it cannot hear the voice of charmers, of the charmer who is skilled in enchantments.
Break their teeth in their mouths, O God; tear out the jaws of the young lions, O Lord.
Let them vanish like waters that run away; if they bend their arrows, let them be broken to pieces.
They are like the sting of a serpent, and the sting of a deaf adder. 8 Like a snail that melts, so they are gone; like a woman's untimely birth, they never see the sun.
Before the thorns can warm your pots, they will be swept away, and the green ones, like those that are burning, as if by a whirlwind.
The righteous will rejoice when he sees vengeance; he will wash his feet in the blood of the wicked.
Then a man will say, "Surely there is a reward for the righteous; surely there is a God who judges the earth."
