Psalms 48
The Beauty and Privileges of Zion
Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised, in the city of our God, in his holy mountain.
Beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole earth, is Mount Zion, on the sides of the north, the city of the great King.
God is known in her palaces as a refuge.
For, lo, the kings gathered together; they passed by together.
They saw him, and were amazed; they were terrified, and fled in haste.
Trembling seized them there, and pains as of a woman in labor.
You break the ships of Tarshish with an east wind.
As we have heard, so have we seen it in the city of the Lord of hosts, in the city of our God. God will establish it forever.
We have remembered, O God, your lovingkindness in the midst of your temple.
As your name, O God, so is your praise to the ends of the earth; your right hand is full of righteousness.
Let Mount Zion rejoice; let the daughters of Judah be glad because of your judgments.
Go around Zion; surround her; count her towers;
Consider her ramparts; consider her palaces, that you may tell them to the next generation.
For this God is our God forever; he will be our guide even to death.
