Psalms 41
God's Care for the Poor. David Complains of His Enemies' Treachery and Seeks God's Help
Blessed is he who considers the poor; the Lord will deliver him in the day of trouble.
The Lord will deliver him and keep him alive; he will be blessed in the land, and you will not give him over to the will of his enemies.
The Lord will sustain him on his sickbed; you will make his bed in sickness.
I said, "Lord, have mercy on me; heal my soul, for I have sinned against you."
My enemies speak evil of me, saying, "When will he die, and his name perish?"
And when one of them comes to me, he speaks vain things; he heaps up mischief in his heart; when he goes out, he speaks of it.
All my enemies murmur against me together; They devise evil against me, saying,
A terrible disease has taken hold of him; and he lies down, and he will never rise again.
Even my close friend, in whom I trusted, who ate my bread, has lifted up his heel against me.
But you, O LORD, have mercy on me, and raise me up, that I may repay them.
By this I know that you favor me, because my enemy does not triumph over me.
As for me, you uphold me in my integrity, and have set me before your face forever.
Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, forever and ever: Amen and Amen.
