Psalm 85
Based on past deliverances, God's people ask for deliverance from present afflictions
You have blessed your land, O Lord; you have restored the captivity of Jacob.
You have forgiven the iniquity of your people; you have covered all their sins.
You have caused all your wrath to cease; you have turned away from your fierce anger.
Bring us back, O God of our salvation, and turn away your wrath from us.
Will you be angry with us forever? Will you extend your anger to all generations?
Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you?
Show us your mercy, O Lord, and grant us your salvation.
I will listen to what God the Lord says; For he will speak peace to his people, and to his saints, if only they do not return to folly.
Surely salvation is near to those who fear him, that glory may dwell in our land.
Mercy and truth have met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other.
Truth shall spring forth from the earth, and righteousness shall look down from heaven.
The Lord also shall give good, and our land shall yield its fruit.
Righteousness shall go before him, and he shall lead us in the way that his steps have made.
