II Chronicles 33
The Idolatry of Manasseh
Manasseh was twelve years old when he began to reign, and he reigned fifty-five years in Jerusalem.
And he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord, according to the abominations of the heathen whom the Lord had cast out before the children of Israel.
For he rebuilt the high places which Hezekiah his father had torn down; and he erected altars for Baalim, and made Asherahs, and worshipped all the host of heaven, and served them.
And he built altars in the house of the Lord, of which the Lord had said, My name shall be in Jerusalem forever.
He built altars for all the host of heaven in the two courts of the house of the Lord.
He also made his sons pass through the fire in the Valley of the Son of Hinnom, and used divination and omens, and used sorcery, and consulted mediums and wizards, and did very evil in the sight of the Lord, to provoke Him to anger.
He also set up a carved image, the idol that he had made, in the house of God, of which God had said to David and to Solomon his son, "In this house, in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, I will put my name forever.
I will never again remove the foot of Israel from the land that I have given to your fathers, provided that they observe to do everything that I have commanded them, according to all the law, the statutes, and the ordinances given by Moses."
And Manasseh caused Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to do worse than the nations that the Lord had destroyed before the children of Israel.
And the Lord spoke to Manasseh and to his people, but they did not listen.
