Esther 03 Haman is Exalted, and Creates Hatred for Mordecai

 Esther 03

Haman is Exalted, and Creates Hatred for Mordecai

1 After these things King Ahasuerus promoted Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, and advanced him, and set his place above all the princes who were with him.

2 And all the king's servants who were at the king's gate bowed down and prostrated themselves before Haman, for so the king had commanded concerning him; but Mordecai would not bow down or prostrate himself.

3 Then the king's servants who were at the king's gate said to Mordecai, "Why do you transgress the king's command?"

4 And it came to pass, when they spoke this to him day after day, and he would not listen to them, that they told Haman, to see whether Mordecai's words would stand, because he had told them that he was a Jew.

5 When Haman saw that Mordecai did not bow down or pay homage to him, Haman was furious.

6 But it seemed to him little to lay hands on Mordecai alone (for they had declared Mordecai's people to him). So Haman sought to destroy all the Jews who were in the whole kingdom of Ahasuerus, even the people of Mordecai.
