Esther 07 Esther Denounces Haman

 Esther 07

Esther Denounces Haman

1 So the king came with Haman to drink with Queen Esther.

2 The king said to Esther on the second day at the banquet of wine, "What is your petition, Queen Esther? It shall be granted to you. And what is your request? It shall be granted to half the kingdom."

3 Then Queen Esther answered and said, "If, O king, I have found favor in your eyes, and if it pleases the king, let my life be given to me as my petition, and my people as my petition.

4 For we are sold, I and my people, to be destroyed, to be killed, and to be destroyed. If they had sold us even for male and female servants, I would have kept quiet; though the oppressor would not have repaid the king's loss."

5 Then King Ahasuerus answered and said to Queen Esther, "Who is he? And where is he who dared to do this?"

6 And Esther said, The man, the oppressor, and the enemy, is this wicked Haman. Then Haman was disturbed before the king and queen.

7 And the king in his wrath rose from the banquet of wine into the palace garden: and Haman stood to plead with Queen Esther for his life, for he saw that evil was determined upon him by the king.

8 And when the king returned from the palace garden to the house of the banquet of wine, Haman had fallen prostrate upon the couch where Esther was. And the king said, Would he also force the queen before me in this house? As soon as the word went out of the king's mouth, they covered Haman's face.

9 Then said Harbona, one of the eunuchs that served before the king, Behold, the gallows fifty cubits high, which Haman made for Mordecai, who had spoken good to the king, standeth by the house of Haman. And the king said, Hang him on it.

10 So they hanged Haman on the gallows he had prepared for Mordecai. Then the king's wrath was appeased.
