Nehemiah 10
The names of those who sealed the covenant
And those who sealed it were Nehemiah the Tirshatha, the son of Hachaliah, and Zedekiah,
Seraiah, Azariah, Jeremiah,
Pashhur, Amariah, Malchijah,
Hattush, Shebaniah, Malluch,
Harim, Meremoth, Obadiah,
Daniel, Ginnethon, Baruch,
Meshullam, Abijah, Mijamin,
Maaseiah, Bilgai, Shemaiah. These were the priests.
And the Levites: Jeshua the son of Azaniah, Binnui, of the sons of Henadad, Kadmiel;
And his brothers: Shebaniah, Hodiah, Chelita, Pelaiah, Hanan,
Micah, Rehob, Hashabiah,
Zaccur, Sherebiah, Shebaniah,
Hodiah, Bani, Beninu.
The leaders of the people: Paroz, Paath-Moab, Elam, Zatu, Bani,
Buni, Azgad, Bebai,
Adonijah, Bigvai, Adim,
Ater, Hischias, Azur,
Hodiah, Hasun, Besai,
Harife, Anathoth, Nebai,
Magpias, Meshullam, Hezir,
Mezezebel, Zadok, Jaddua,
Pelatiah, Hanan, Anaiah,
Hosea, Hananiah, Hashub,
Holoes, Stack, Sobeque,
Rehum, Hasabna, Maaseiah;
And Ahijah, Hanan, Anan,
Maluch, Harim, Baana.
And the rest of the people, the priests, the Levites, the gatekeepers, the singers, the Nethinim, and all who had separated themselves from the people of the lands for the law of God, their wives, their sons, and their daughters, all the wise and understanding;
The most noble among them firmly adhered to their brethren, and agreed in an anathema and in an oath, that they would walk in the law of God, which was given by Moses the servant of God, and that they would observe and do all the commandments of the Lord our Lord, and his judgments, and his statutes;
And that we would not give our daughters to the people of the land, nor would we take their daughters for our sons;
And that if the people of the land brought any goods or any grain to sell on the Sabbath day, we would take nothing from them on the Sabbath or on the holy day; and we would leave the seventh year free, and all dues.
We also laid down ordinances for ourselves, laying on ourselves a third of a shekel each year for the service of the house of our God:
for the showbread, and for the continual grain offering, and for the continual burnt offering, on the sabbaths, on the new moons, for the solemn feasts, for the holy things, and for the sin offerings, to make atonement for Israel, and for all the work of the house of our God.
We also cast lots among the priests, the Levites, and the people, for the offering of wood that was to be brought into the house of our God, according to the houses of our fathers, at set times year by year, to burn on the altar of the Lord our God, as it is written in the law.
And that we should bring the firstfruits of our land, and all the firstfruits of every tree, year by year, to the house of the Lord.
And the firstborn of our sons and of our cattle, as it is written in the law; and that we should bring the firstborn of our herds and of our flocks to the house of our God, to the priests who minister in the house of our God.
And that we should bring the firstfruits of our dough, and our heave offerings, and the fruit of every tree, the wine and the oil, to the priests, to the chambers of the house of our God; and the tithes of our land to the Levites; and that the Levites should pay tithes in all the cities of our tillage.
And that the priest the son of Aaron should be with the Levites when the Levites received the tithes, and that the Levites should bring the tithe of the tithes to the house of our God, to the chambers of the storehouse.
For into those chambers the children of Israel and the children of Levi ought to bring an offering of the grain, of the wine, and of the oil: for there are the vessels of the sanctuary, and the priests that minister, and the gatekeepers, and the singers; and that we should not forsake the house of our God.
