Ezra 03
The Altar is Built
1 Now when the seventh month came, and the children of Israel were in the cities, the people gathered together as one man to Jerusalem.
2 Then Jeshua the son of Jehozadak and his brothers the priests, and Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel and his brothers, arose and built the altar of the God of Israel, to offer burnt offerings on it, as it is written in the law of Moses the man of God.
3 And they set the altar on its bases, because terror was upon them because of the people of the lands; and they offered burnt offerings on it to the Lord, burnt offerings morning and evening.
4 And they kept the Feast of Tabernacles, as it is written: They offered burnt offerings daily in order, according to the ordinance, each on its day.
5 And after this the continual burnt offering, and those of the new moons, and of all the appointed feasts of the LORD, and of every one that offereth a freewill offering unto the LORD:
6 From the first day of the seventh month they began to offer burnt offerings unto the LORD: but the foundation of the temple of the LORD was not yet laid.
7 So they gave money to the hewers and craftsmen, and also food and drink, and oil to the Sidonians and the Tyrians, to bring cedar trees from Lebanon to the sea, to Joppa, according to the grant that Cyrus king of Persia had made unto them.
