The Book of the Prophet Isaiah 20
Symbolic Prophecy of the Captivity of the Egyptians and Ethiopians
1 In the year that Tartan came to Ashdod, when Sargon king of Assyria sent him, and he fought against Ashdod and captured it;
2 At that time the Lord spoke through Isaiah son of Amoz, saying, "Go, loose the sackcloth from your loins, and take the sandals from your feet." And he did so, going naked and barefoot.
3 Then the Lord said, "Just as my servant Isaiah walked naked and barefoot for three years, as a sign and a wonder upon Egypt and Ethiopia,
4 So the king of Assyria will carry away captive the captives of Egypt and the exiles of Ethiopia, both young and old, naked and barefoot, with their buttocks uncovered, to the shame of Egypt.
5 They will be dismayed and ashamed because of the Ethiopians, their hope, and the Egyptians, their glory.
6 Then the inhabitants of this island will say in that day, "See, such is our hope, to which we have sought help from the king of Assyria! How then shall we escape?"
