The Book of the Prophet Isaiah 15
Foretelling the Ruin of Moab
The Burden of Moab. Surely in one night Ar of Moab was destroyed, and was destroyed; surely in one night Kir of Moab was destroyed, and was destroyed.
He goes up to Bajith and Dibon, to the high places, weeping; for Nebo and for Medeba Moab will howl; every head will be bald, and every beard will be shaved.
They gird themselves with sackcloth in their streets, on their rooftops, and in their squares everyone howls, and weeps bitterly.
Heshbon and Elealeh cry out; their voice is heard even to Jahaz; therefore the armed men of Moab cry out; their soul trembles within them.
My heart cries out for Moab; its nobles have fled to Zoar like a three-year-old heifer, because they weep at the ascent of Luhith, because on the way to Horonaim they take up a mournful wail.
For the waters of Nimrim will be a desolation; for the hay has dried up, the grass has languished, and there is no green thing.
Therefore they will carry away the abundance that they gathered and what they stored away to the brook of willows.
For the weeping will go all around the borders of Moab; its cry will reach even to Eglaim, and its roaring will reach even to Beerelim.
For the waters of Dimon are full of blood; therefore I will add more to Dimon: lions against those who escape from Moab, and against the remnants of the land.
