The Book of the Prophet Isaiah 2 The Future Glory of the True Israel. Preparatory Judgments. The Day of the Lord. The Purification of Jerusalem

 The Book of the Prophet Isaiah 2

The Future Glory of the True Israel. Preparatory Judgments. The Day of the Lord. The Purification of Jerusalem

The vision that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem.

And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the Lord's house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills: and all nations shall flow unto it.

And many people shall come and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob; that he may teach us his ways, and we may walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.

And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many peoples: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.

Come, O house of Jacob, and let us walk in the light of the Lord.

But you have forsaken your people, the house of Jacob, because they are filled with the customs of the east; they are soothsayers like the Philistines; they associate with the sons of strangers.

Their land is full of silver and gold, and there is no end to their treasures; their land is also full of horses, and their chariots are endless.

Their land is also full of idols: they bow down to the work of their hands, to what their fingers have made.

There the people are humbled, and the nobles are humbled: therefore you will not spare them.

Go, enter into the rocks, and hide yourself in the dust, from the awesome presence of the Lord and from the glory of his majesty.

The lofty looks of man will be humbled, and the haughtiness of men will be humbled; and the Lord alone will be exalted in that day.

For the day of the Lord of hosts will be against all that is proud and lofty, and against all that is exalted, so that it will be brought low;

And against all the cedars of Lebanon, the high and lifted up, and against all the oaks of Bashan;

And against all the high mountains, and against all the lofty hills;

And against every high tower, and against every strong wall;

And against all the ships of Tarshish, and against all the desirable pictures.

And the loftiness of man shall be humbled, and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down; and the Lord alone shall be exalted in that day.

And all idols shall utterly vanish.

Then men shall go into the hollows of the rocks, and into the caves of the earth, because of the terror of the Lord, and because of the glory of his majesty, when he ariseth to shake the earth.

In that day men shall cast their idols of silver, and their idols of gold, which they made to bow down before them, to the moles and to the bats.

And they shall go into the clefts of the rocks, and into the caves of the cliffs, because of the terror of the Lord, and because of the glory of his majesty, when he ariseth to shake the earth.

Therefore leave the man whose breath is in his nostrils: for what shall he be regarded?
