Proverbs of Solomon 22
Brief Moral Discourses of the Wise on Various Subjects
Incline your ear and hear the words of the wise, and apply your heart to my knowledge.
For it is a pleasant thing if you store them up in your heart, if you apply them all to your lips.
That your trust may be in the Lord, I have made known to you today, even to you.
Have I not written to you excellent things in all counsel and knowledge,
To make you know the certainty of the words of truth, that you may answer the words of truth to those who send you?
Do not rob the poor because they are poor, nor crush the afflicted in the gate.
For the Lord will plead their cause, and he will take the life of those who rob them.
Do not associate with a wrathful man, nor go with a hot-tempered man.
Lest you learn their ways and become a snare for your soul.
Do not be among those who join hands or become sureties for debts.
If you have nothing to pay, why should they take your bed from under you?
Do not remove the ancient landmarks your fathers set.
Have you seen a man diligent in his work? He will be placed before kings; he will not be placed before those of low degree.
