Song of Solomon 01
The Bride Longs for Her Husband
A Song of Songs, which is Solomon's.
Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth, for his love is better than wine.
Your ointments are sweet to the smell; your name is like ointment poured forth; therefore the virgins love you.
Bring me, we will run after you. The king has brought me into his chambers; we will be glad and rejoice in you; we will remember your love more than wine; the upright love you.
I am dark, but comely, O daughters of Jerusalem, like the tents of Kedar, like the curtains of Solomon.
Do not look upon me because I am dark, because the sun has looked upon me; my mother's sons were angry with me; they made me a keeper of the vineyards; I have not kept the vineyard that is mine.
Tell me, you whom my soul loves, where you pasture your flock, where you make it home at noon. Why should I be like one who wanders among the flocks of your companions?
If you do not know, O fairest among women, go out by the footsteps of the flock and feed your goats beside the shepherds' tents.
I compare you, my love, to the mares of Pharaoh's chariots.
Your cheeks are lovely with ornaments, your neck with necklaces.
We will make you ornaments of gold with silver studs.
While the king sits at his table, my spikenard gives its fragrance.
My beloved is to me a bundle of myrrh; he will dwell between my breasts.
Like a cluster of cypress in the vineyards of Engedi is my beloved to me.
Behold, you are beautiful, my love, behold, you are beautiful; your eyes are like doves' eyes.
Behold, you are gentle and pleasant, my beloved; our bed is lush.
The beams of our house are cedar, our balconies are cypress.
