Song of Solomon 08 The Unfailing Love of a Husband for His Wife

 Song of Solomon 08

The Unfailing Love of a Husband for His Wife

5 Who is this coming up from the desert, leaning so gently on her beloved? Under an apple tree I awakened you; there your mother was in pain; there she who gave birth to you was in pain.

6 Set me as a seal upon your heart, as a seal upon your arm, for love is strong as death, jealousy cruel as the grave; its coals are coals of fire, a flame of the Lord.

7 Many waters cannot quench love, nor floods drown it. Though a man give all the wealth of his house for love, they will surely despise her.

8 We have a little sister, and she has no breasts: what shall we do with our sister on the day she is spoken of?

9 If she is a wall, we will build a palace of silver upon her; and if it be a door, we will enclose it with boards of cedar.

10 I am a wall, and my breasts are like its towers; then I was in their sight as one who finds peace.

11 Solomon had a vineyard in Baal-hamon; he gave it to keepers, and each brought him a thousand pieces of silver for its fruit.

12 My vineyard that I have is before me: the thousand pieces of silver are for you, Solomon, and two hundred for the keepers of its fruit.

13 You who dwell in the gardens, your companions listen to your voice; let me hear it also.

14 Come quickly, my beloved, and be like a gazelle or a young stag on the mountains of spices.
