Proverbs of Solomon 19

 Proverbs of Solomon 19

Better is the poor who walks in his integrity than one who is perverse in his lips and is a fool.

So also for a soul to be without knowledge is not good, and he who is hasty with his feet sins.

A man's foolishness will pervert his way, and his heart will fret against the Lord.

Riches make many friends, but the poor are forsaken by their own friends.

A false witness will not be innocent, and one who speaks lies will not escape.

Many entreat the favor of a prince, and everyone is a friend to him who gives gifts.

All the brothers of the poor hate him; how much more will his friends turn away from him! He runs after them with words that profit nothing.

He who gains understanding loves his own soul; he who preserves understanding will find good.

A false witness will not go unpunished; and he who speaks lies will perish.

Delight is not seemly for a fool; how much less for a servant to rule over princes!

A man's understanding withholds anger, and it is his glory to pass over transgression.

A king's wrath is like the roaring of a young lion, but his favor is like dew on the grass.

A foolish son is a great misfortune to a father, and a wife's contentions are a continual dripping.

House and wealth are an inheritance from fathers, but a prudent wife is from the Lord.

Slothfulness casts into a deep sleep, and a deceitful soul will suffer hunger.

He who keeps the commandment will preserve his life, but he who despises his ways will die.

He who is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will repay him for what he has done.

Chasten your son while there is hope, but you will not lift up your soul to put him to death.

A man of great wrath must suffer harm; for if you deliver him, you will do it again.

Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that you may be wise in your later days.

Many are the plans in a man's heart, but the counsel of the Lord will stand.

The desire of a man is kindness, but a poor man is better than a liar.

The fear of the Lord leads to life; he who has it will be satisfied, and no evil will visit him.

The lazy man hides his hand in his bosom; he is loath to put it to his mouth.

Strike a scoffer, and the simple will take warning; rebuke a man of understanding, and he will learn knowledge.

He who oppresses his father or drives away his mother is a son who brings shame and dishonor.

My son, stop listening to instruction and turn away from the words of knowledge.

A wicked witness scoffs at justice, and the mouth of the wicked swallows up iniquity.

Judgments are prepared for scoffers, and lashes for the backs of fools.
