Psalms 139 The Omnipresence and Omnipotence of God

 Psalms 139

The Omnipresence and Omnipotence of God

O Lord, you have searched me and known me.

You know my sitting down and my rising up; you understand my thought from afar.

You compass my path and my lying down; you are acquainted with all my ways.

Before there is a word on my tongue, behold, O Lord, you know it all.

You have hemmed me in on every side; you have laid your hand upon me.

This knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is too high for me to attain it.

Where can I go from your Spirit? or where can I flee from your presence?

If I ascend into heaven, you are there; if I make my bed in Sheol, behold, you are there.

If I take the wings of the morning, if I dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea.

Even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.

If I say, "Surely the darkness will cover me," then the night will be light around me.

Even the darkness does not hide me from you, but the night shines as the day; the darkness and the light are alike to you.

For you formed my inward parts; you knit me together in my mother's womb.

I will praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are your works, and that is what my soul knows very well.

My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, woven together in the depths of the earth.

Your eyes saw my unformed body, and in your book all these things were written, day by day being formed, when as yet there was none of them.

How precious are your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them!

If I could count them, they would outnumber the sand; when I awake, I am still with you.

O God, you will surely slay the wicked; therefore depart from me, you bloodthirsty men.

For they speak evil against you; your enemies take your name in vain.

Do I not hate, O Lord, those who hate you? Do I not grieve because of those who rise up against you?

I hate them with complete hatred; I count them as my enemies.

Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my thoughts.

And see if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.
