Proverbs of Solomon 13
A wise son hears his father's instruction, but a scorner does not listen to rebuke.
From the fruit of his mouth everyone will eat good, but the soul of transgressors will eat violence.
He who guards his mouth preserves his life, but he who opens wide his lips comes to destruction.
The soul of the lazy man craves and gets nothing, but the soul of the diligent is made fat.
The righteous hates lying words, but the wicked are abominable and come to shame.
Righteousness preserves the upright in his way, but wickedness overthrows the sinner.
There is one who makes himself rich while having nothing, and one who makes himself poor while having great riches.
The ransom of a man's life is his riches, but the poor will not listen to rebukes.
The light of the righteous brings joy, but the lamp of the wicked will be extinguished.
Pride brings only discord, but wisdom is found in those who take advice.
The wealth of vanity diminishes, but whoever gathers by labor will increase.
Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a desire fulfilled is a tree of life.
Whoever despises the word will perish, but whoever fears the commandment will be rewarded.
The teaching of the wise is a fountain of life, turning one away from the snares of death.
Good understanding gives grace, but the way of transgressors is hard.
Every prudent man works with knowledge, but a fool spills folly.
A bad messenger falls into trouble, but a faithful ambassador brings health.
Poverty and shame come to him who refuses instruction, but he who heeds reproof will be honored.
A desire fulfilled delights the soul, but to depart from evil is an abomination to fools.
Walk with wise men and you will be wise, but a companion of fools will suffer harm.
Evil pursues sinners, but the righteous are rewarded with good.
A good man leaves an inheritance to his children's children, but the wealth of the sinner is stored up for the righteous.
There is plenty of food in the field of the poor, but some waste away for lack of sense.
He who spares his rod hates his son, but he who loves him disciplines him in due time.
The righteous eats to his heart's content, but the belly of the wicked will lack.
