Proverbs of Solomon 01
Do not be deceived by sinners
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction.
My son, hear your father's instruction, and do not forsake your mother's law.
For they will be a garland of grace for your head, and chains for your neck.
My son, if sinners tempt you with their charms, do not consent.
If they say, "Come with us; let us lie in wait for blood, let us lie in wait for the innocent without cause."
Let us swallow them up alive, as the grave, and whole, as those who go down to the pit.
We will find all kinds of precious wealth; we will fill our houses with spoil.
You will cast your lot among us; we will all have one purse.
My son, do not go with them; keep your foot from their paths.
For their feet run to evil and make haste to shed blood.
Indeed, in vain would a net be spread before the eyes of any bird.
And they lie in wait for their own blood; they lie in wait for their own lives.
Such are the ways of everyone who is greedy for gain; it will ensnare the souls of those who possess it.
